Maleficent 2 Gets New Release Date and Poster

Maleficent 2 Gets New Release Date and Poster

Disney releases a new poster and announces the release date for Maleficent 2 gets moved up seven months from its previous May 29, 2020 release date to an October 18, 2019 release.

The poster features Angelina Jolie returning as the titular character in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The film also stars Juno Temple, Ed Skrein, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor; Joachim Rønning is directing.

The first movie was released in May 2014 and brought in over $758 million.

The October 18, 2019 release for Maleficent 2 will see it go up against an untitled Blumhouse movie and MGM’s animated version of The Addams Family. Last year’s Halloween was released on the same weekend, which was a big success, so we see Disney snapped up the 2019 release date rather quickly realizing an October Halloween release isn’t a bad thing.
