Mads Mikkelsen Bows Out Of Thor 2 For Hannibal

Mads Mikkelsen was in talks with Disney and Marvel Studios back in late May to play the villain in Thor 2.

But now it seems that won’t happen as Mads Mikkelsen will be taking a role on NBC’s new Hannibal series.

Mikkelsen tells the website Zoomin Movies (Via ThePlaylist), “Yeah, that’s not happening unfortunately. I had a meeting with them, but they were a little too late. And then ‘Hannibal’ came in, and everything just came in the same period, so now it’s not happening.”

With Thor 2 expected to begin filming soon, this month in London I believe, we may get an announcement from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige at the Iron Man 3 Panel, Saturday, at the Comic-Con.

Cosmic Book News will update when more becomes available.

Thor 2 hammers into theaters November 8th, 2013 directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimidall, Zachary Levi as Fandral and Jaimie Alexander as Sif.
