Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Predicted To Bomb At Box Office

Scarlett Johansson’s ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Predicted To Bomb At Box Office

The upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth movie starring Scarlett Johansson could potentially be a big bomb at the box office as the first estimates are in for the opening weekend, and they’re the lowest of the franchise, which includes the first Jurassic Park movies.

What are the estimates?

The estimates right now for Jurassic World Rebirth are that it will open to around $115 million to $135 million. The kicker? That’s for the FIVE-DAY opening weekend, as the flick drops for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

I don’t know what Deadline is smoking, but they compare Jurassic World Rebirth‘s FIVE-DAY opening to Jurassic World: Dominion‘s THREE-DAY opening of over $145 million!

Slightly behind?! Whaat? LOL.

They also compare it to 2001’s Jurassic Park III, said to bring in $85 million for its 5-day, which would be over $154 million in today’s dollars!

If Jurassic World Rebirth‘s FIVE-DAY is $115 million to $135 million, what is its THREE-DAY? That means it will come under a hundred million, the first of the Jurassic World movies to do so.

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World box office opening weekend grosses

The first Jurassic Park back in 1993 opened to $47 million, which is over $104 million in today’s dollars.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park, released in 1997, brought in over $72 million or over $160M for its 3-day, and over $90M or $180M for its 5-day Memorial Day weekend opening, in today’s dollars.

Again, 2001’s Jurassic Park III is said to have brought in around $85M or $154 million in today’s dollars, which led to the franchise going on hiatus for fifteen years.

Jurassic World (2015) opened to over $208 million in 3 days, which in today’s dollars is over $283 million.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) opened to $148 million over 3 days, which in today’s dollars is over $189M.

And againJurassic World: Dominion (2022) opened to $145 million.

What’s going on?

The low estimates for Jurassic World Rebirth could be based on presale ticket info, as a quick check of my local theaters, basically shows no tickets sold. That seems to be a trend as of late, that movie goers really aren’t buying early tickets. The same thing happened with Minecraft, nobody bought early tickets, but the movie exploded thanks to that viral marketing campaign.

Fans seem to be waiting for critics reviews and word-of-mouth reviews from the hardcore fans and even YouTubers and their favorite websites.

The same applies to James Gunn’s Superman, which opens a week later, though Gunn’s Amazon screenings seem to be selling pretty well. However, Friday and Saturday theaters are empty.

It’s also the same for Marvel’s Fantastic Four, which opens July 25, and barely has sold tickets for its opening Friday and Saturday as well.
