John Boyega has released video for Pacific Rim 2 on his Instagram account from Legacy Effects Studio out of California as the movie will begin filming soon.
Boyega, known for recently playing Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is playing the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first Pacific Rim film.
“Pac Rim prep at legacy effects! CREEPY!” John Boyega posted, as well as adding in to an earlier post referring to Idris Elba’s Stacker Pentecost’s speech: “My dad said it right the first time but I’ll take it from here.”
The video shows a bust of the 24-year-old English actor most likely used to build his Jaeger pilot suit. Legacy Effects Studios is known for creature design, prosthetic makeup, animatronics, and specialty suits, and has worked on Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Suicide Squad, Captain America: Civil War, Godzilla, The Avengers 2 and more.
Recent details for Pacific Rim 2 include that it will film in China. The plot isn’t currently known, but a while ago saw Guillermo del Toro tease there might be a Jaeger and Kaiju hybrid created by the humans.
Pacific Rim 2 has a February 23, 2018 release directed by Steven S. DeKnight also starring Tian Jing, Scott Eastwood, Max Martini returning as Herc Hansen, and Ron Perlman returns as Hannibal Chau.
John Boyega also stars in Star Wars: Episode VIII out December 2017.
“Today. Today… At the edge of our hope, at the end of our time, we have chosen not only to believe in ourselves, but in each other. Today there is not a man nor woman in here that shall stand alone. Not today. Today we face the monsters that are at our door and bring the fight to them! Today, we are cancelling the apocalypse!” -Stacker Pentecost My dad said it right the first time but I’ll take it from here. #Iamapentecost #pacificrim2
