Hugh Jackman Would Stay As Wolverine If X-Men Were In MCU

Patrick Stewart recently voted for the X-Men in an Avengers vs. X-Men showdown, and fans have been wanting the X-Men to take on Marvel’s Avengers for some time. There has been rumors galore surrounding the X-Men returning to Marvel, but that’s all they seem to be. The X-Men haven’t appeared alongside any Marvel Studios characters because FOX Studios purchased the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four characters back when Marvel was in bankruptcy, which is why there hasn’t been an X-Men and Avengers crossover to date (Disney owns Marvel Studios).

Now it’s learned if the X-Men were actually a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that Hugh Jackman would have stayed on as Wolverine. The upcoming Logan movie marks the last time Hugh Jackman will play the adamantium-wielding, berserker-raging mutant.

“If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause,” Hugh Jackman said at a press junket for Logan when asked if he was offered a chance to be in an Avengers movie, if he would take it, reports Screen Rant. “That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughter]. You never know.”

Hugh Jackman first appeared as Wolverine in Bryan Singer’s X-Men movie, which debuted back in 2000. Since then, Jackman has appeared as Wolverine in X-Men sequels and standalone movies. It’s been said the Logan movie is the best Wolverine movie to date, with Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld even going so far as to say that Logan is the best X-Men movie ever.

Logan pairs Hugh Jackman with Patrick Stewart, where it was thought Logan was also going to be Patrick Stewart’s last hurrah as Professor Xavier; however, it now seems that Patrick Stewart might be a part of the upcoming X-Men: Supernova movie along with James McAvoy and Sophie Turner.

Regarding Marvel and X-Men, it is possible there may be some sort of crossover in the works, but it doesn’t appear to be with the movies. It could be on TV. Marvel TV (separate from Marvel Studios) is working with FOX on the two new X-Men TV shows, Legion and the X-Men TV series, so perhaps instead of the Avengers, we may see X-Men vs. Inhumans.

The Logan movie starring Hugh Jackman has a March 3, 2017 release directed by James Mangold also starring Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Doris Morgado and Eriq La Salle.

Logan is set in the near future, where a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border, but Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, X-23, who is being pursued by dark forces and characters.
