More rumors surround the future of Henry Cavill in the MCU as now it’s claimed the former Superman actor is up for a role in Marvel’s Nova series which is in development at Disney+.
Henry recently played Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine. Insiders have filled us in that he has had discussions with Marvel to continue to play the role. Another insider said more of the same.
What does the rumor say?

Might not be up for Richard Rider
Now the account doesn’t say Henry Cavill is up to play Richard Rider Nova, but says, “Henry Cavill is being eyed for a role,” so it could be possible Henry plays a different character.
In the comics, I believe Richard Rider is only around 22 years old during Annihilation, which the MCU seems to be adapting. Rumors also offer the actors Marvel is eyeing for Nova are around 30-35 years old. Henry Cavill is 41 years old, so that’s actually not too far off if they are considering going for an older version of Nova. Rumors have also said Jared Padalecki has been eyed for the role, who is 42 years old.
Be on the lookout for bait-and-switch
If they’re going with an older Nova, we have to watch out for a bait-and-switch—the woke replacement—Sam Alexander, the Nova wannabe forced into the comics around the same time as Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and others. The comics flopped, nobody likes the characters, and those Kevin Feige has already adapted into the MCU over the past six years have been massive failures. It does seem like Feige is moving away from the woke DEI nonsense, so hopefully, Sam stays out of the MCU.
Henry Cavill starring in Warhammer
Henry Cavill also has his Warhammer series in development, which is kind of similar in tone to Nova (military sci-fi), so Henry playing both Nova and starring in Warhammer, I am guess is unlikely, though I wouldn’t complain.
Brandon Sklenar is also rumored to play Nova who is known for playing Spencer Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923.
Nova is compared to Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica
No plot details are known, but the good news is that apparently, Marvel TV is going in a different direction than James Gunn’s goofy ass take on the Nova Corps, as Brad Winderbaum has compared the series to both Star Trek and BSG.
“The Nova being developed right now is an amazing ensemble piece. It’s got shades of Trek, shades of Battlestar, but also feels like if you know those comics, you know how heated Richard Rider’s world can get, and it certainly embraces it,” Winderbaum recently said who is the head of Marvel’s Streaming, Television, and Animation.
Ed Bernero has also been announced as the showrunner behind Nova who is a television writer, producer, and director known for Third Watch, Criminal Minds, and Crossing Lines. He’s also a former Chicago police officer which fits with the Nova Corps being space cops.
One more worry I have is the budget. Nova needs a decent budget if it’s going to be a space opera. It can’t have the budget of Agatha or Echo.

Henry Cavill is currently in Australia filming the live-action Voltron. After that, he is reported to be filming the Highlander reboot in Scotland.
