Ghostbusters Animated Movie Rumored To Be In Development

Joining the female Ghostbusters reboot and potential new male Ghostbusters film, it’s being said an animated Ghostbusters feature film is in development at Sony.

The news comes from the Tracking Board which states the animated Ghostbusters film is being produced by Tom Pollock and Ivan Reitman through their Montecito Picture Company, with Ali Bell and Kristine Belson overseeing for Sony Pictures Animation.

It’s said that the animated Ghostbusters movie will be similar to the 1984 original film which sees a “group of scientists teaming up to fight off ghosts, using gadgets and gizmos to capture the menacing ghouls who have invaded Manhattan.”

The rumor may have some merit as Sony is also developing an animated Spider-Man feature film.

Sony’s new Ghostbusters kicks off with Paul Feig’s female cast on July 15, 2016 starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth and Neil Casey.

The original actors are also set to cameo with Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver returning.

An animated Ghostbusters TV series aired back in 1986-1991 and in 1997.
