Disney+ ‘Percy Jackson’ Ratings Decline Confirmed by Nielsen Data

The sophomore slump for Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now backed by official Nielsen numbers, which show the Disney+ series is down from its Season 1 debut.

For the week of December 8 through December 14, 2025, the Percy Jackson Season 2 two-episode premiere was watched for 508 million minutes, according to Nielsen’s U.S. streaming rankings.

By comparison, the Season 1 two-episode premiere week logged 572 million minutes back in 2023, meaning Season 2 opened down by over 11%, despite Disney+ placing it in the same holiday window.

The two-episode Season 2 premiere is also down from the Season 1 finale of 575 million minutes, with only one episode released, suggesting the show may have lost half its viewership, which aligns with the recent Luminate report that viewership is down 63%.

Silence From Disney

Disney heavily promoted Percy Jackson during its first season, citing over 26 million views within the first few weeks and touting it as a breakout hit, the biggest launch on Disney+ to date for a series that’s not part of the Star Wars or the MCU.

This time? Total silence.

While Nielsen and Luminate both show a noticeable drop in viewership, Disney has yet to release any internal numbers for Season 2, a clear signal that the company is avoiding a less flattering narrative.

The week Percy Jackson Season 1 Episode 3 aired, the show nabbed 700 million minutes, so week 3 of Season 2 will be telling.

Nielsen Tracking Is Always On

Importantly, Disney+ enables Nielsen tracking by default across user accounts in the U.S., meaning this data comes from actual viewer behavior and not optional participation.

Unless users specifically opt out — which is rare — their watch time is automatically included in Nielsen’s tally.

Still Renewed — But for How Long?

Disney has already greenlit Season 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on The Titan’s Curse, but the trend is hard to ignore.

If engagement continues to fall, the franchise may be at risk of getting cut short, especially as Disney+ retools its content strategy to attract older viewers and folds Hulu into the platform to boost engagement.

For now, Percy Jackson fans can look forward to more, but the numbers suggest the Olympian glow is fading.
