Avengers 4 Not Titled Infinity Gauntlet Says James Gunn

Yesterday saw the news hit that Zoe Saldana had apparently let the title for Avengers 4 slip, with “Infinity Gauntlet.”

Saldana stated the Guardians actors had finished filming on The Avengers: Infinity War, but that they would be returning for “Gauntlet.”

Infinity Gauntlet is the title of the Marvel Comics graphic novel by Jim Starlin featuring Thanos vs the Avengers and Marvel Earth and COSMIC heroes over the Infinity Gems (Infinity Stones in the MCU) and the fate of the universe.

Yahoo caught up with Guardians of the Galaxy 2 director James Gunn who states “Infinity Gauntlet” is not the title for Avengers 4.

“It’s not the title,” Gunn says. “I will say that my guess is that Zoe just misspoke. I’ll talk to Zoe today, but I would imagine that is just Zoe misspeaking and saying ‘Infinity Gauntlet’ instead of ‘Infinity War.’ That’s what my guess is.”

My own guess would be that Zoe Saldana didn’t exactly misspoke as she said they would be back for “Gauntlet”–meaning she wasn’t referring to Infinity War. It’s probably likely the working title for Avengers 4 could be either “Infinity Gauntlet” or “Gauntlet.”

Kevin Feige did say the title for Avengers 4 is a big spoiler, and he also said following Avengers 4 that the MCU would be very different. If you ever read Infinity Gauntlet–the title fits!
