Marvel Comics has announced The Amazing Spider-Man #1000, with Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz, John Romita Jr., and a long list of creators involved in the milestone issue.
The oversized issue arrives in September and will also introduce a new Spider-Man villain named Ravage, who Marvel says will force Peter Parker to question his legacy.
Amazing Spider-Man #1000 Arrives In September
Marvel is calling The Amazing Spider-Man #1000 “the biggest issue in Spider-History,” with the milestone issue set to go on sale September 16.
The issue will be listed as Amazing Spider-Man #36, with the legacy numbering marking it as #1000.
Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz will lead the main story, which Marvel says serves as both a culmination of their current run and a launch point for the next phase of Peter Parker’s story.
Marvel also teases that Peter Parker’s life will change forever.

Ravage Debuts As Spider-Man’s New Villain
The big hook is the debut of Ravage, a new villain Marvel describes as one of Spider-Man’s most frightening new threats in decades.
Marvel says Spider-Man will face “his greatest fear” and that Ravage has “history-shattering power” that will force Peter to question his legacy.
Kelly teased the villain in Marvel’s announcement.
“Writing Amazing Spider-Man #1000 has stirred up a lot of emotions for me, but gratitude is chief among them,” Kelly said. “It’s a true honor to have the opportunity to contribute to Spidey’s legacy with a huge milestone like this. And special bonus – we get to introduce a new villain?! Amazing. Ravage is layered and complex and mysterious, and I can’t wait to unleash him on the readers with this monumental issue!”
All-Star Creator Lineup Announced
The milestone issue will also include anniversary stories from a large lineup of Spider-Man veterans and major comic book creators.
Marvel says the talent involved includes John Romita Jr., Frank Miller, Peach Momoko, Stuart Immonen, Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Slott, J.M. DeMatteis, Patrick Gleason, Marcos Martin, and Noah Hawley.
Hawley, known for Alien: Earth, makes his Marvel Comics debut with the issue.

Covers Revealed By John Romita Jr. And Pepe Larraz
Marvel also released the main cover and a variant cover for The Amazing Spider-Man #1000.
The main cover comes from John Romita Jr. and Paolo Rivera, marking the first time the two artists have worked together on a cover. The image features Spider-Man above the city with the teaser, “Peter Parker’s life changes forever!”
Pepe Larraz’s variant cover teases Ravage, showing Spider-Man in action as the new villain breaks through images of Peter Parker and Mary Jane in the background.
