In something of a surprise move, Netflix has decided to renew Kevin Smith’s He-Man series for a Season 2.
Following Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Season 2 is titled Masters of the Universe: Revolution and is described (via Deadline) as:
…the next epic chapter in the battle for Eternia. It is a standalone story that takes place after the events in Revelation. Masters of the Universe: Revolution is an all-new story that brings the focus to He-Man vs. Skeletor “like you’ve never seen them before,” per Netflix. It’s technology versus magic as He-Man and the heroic warriors face the forces of Skeletor and a deadly threat to the Planet.
The last we saw of Skeletor was in the final episode of Season 1 on Snake Mountain, where Skeletor rages at Tri-Klops and his tech cultists for abandoning him and he attempts to destroy their Motherboard; however, the Motherboard instead comes to life and begins assimilating Skeletor, revealing itself to bear a Horde insignia. In He-Man lore, long story short, Hordak is the leader of the Horde who is actually the villain of the She-Ra series and is known for various cybernetic characters.
While the voice cast hasn’t been announced, Mark Hamill is expected back as Skeletor along with Chris Wood as the voice of He-Man.
Kevin Smith is the executive producer along with Rob David who writes and produces Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series, and Ted Biaselli, Christopher Keenan and Frederic Soulie. Mattel Television is producing, with Powerhouse Animation returning as the animation studio that also does the animation behind Castlevania: Nocturne and Legendary’s Kong Skull Island animated series.
Regarding why a Season 2 is such a surprise, Kevin Smith promoted Masters of the Universe: Revelation as being all about He-Man, but it was quickly learned that was all bait-and-switch as the series was really all about Teela and Evil-Lyn at the expense of He-Man (Smith isn’t even a He-Man fan). While the first part of the Season made Netflix’s Top 10 charts, fans weren’t at all happy with the woke approach and turned it off as the second part didn’t make any of Netflix’s Top 10 or trending lists.
Maybe Smith and company (Biaselli) have learned their lesson and will attempt to fix things with Revolution as Netflix has made it quite clear the woke garbage put out by the streaming network has been a big failure as they’ve lost hundreds of thousands of subscribers?
After Revelation comes REVOLUTION!
