Masters of the Universe Shows Interest But Still Has An Awareness Problem

The latest early film tracking chart shared via Puck News and based on data from The Quorum offers a mixed read for Masters of the Universe.

The movie posted a 38 awareness score and a 42 interest score. That means interest is higher than awareness, which is usually a positive sign. It says the people who know about the film seem to like the idea of it.

However, the problem is that not enough people appear to know about it yet, which could be concerning as its release date approaches.

Interest Is Better Than Awareness

That 42 interest score is the best part of the story for Masters of the Universe.

It suggests the movie has some appeal once it gets on people’s radar. For a property like this, that is important. The brand still seems to connect with genre fans and people curious about a big-screen reboot.

In other words, the issue does not look like rejection. It looks like reach.

Awareness Still Looks Soft

The 38 awareness score remains well behind Mortal Kombat II at 48 and The Mandalorian & Grogu at 46.

That leaves Masters of the Universe playing catch-up.

The chart shows awareness up by 1 point over the previous two weeks, but interest dipped by 1. So there is movement, just not enough to suggest a real breakout is happening.

CinemaCon Doesn’t Seem To Have Helped Much

This tracking also follows CinemaCon, which is what makes the soft awareness number more notable.

If the event had meaningfully boosted mainstream awareness, you would expect a bigger jump. Instead, Masters of the Universe barely moved.

That points to a larger issue with CinemaCon coverage in general. It may energize hard core fans and trade outlets, but it does not necessarily translate to the public in a measurable way.

Could be a sleeper hit

Masters of the Universe still looks like a movie with upside.

The interest score shows there may be an audience there. The studio just has to do more to reach it.

That makes the next wave of trailers, posters, and campaign material especially important. Right now, the movie feels more like a sleeper than a breakout.
