James Gunn Teases ‘Superman’ Trailer Release

James Gunn teases the release of the Superman trailer on social media, and from what I have heard, they have been working on it for a while.

It’s not much to go on but DC fans that are waiting for something good to watch following the disaster known as Joker 2 might be excited.

On Threads, a fan questioned Gunn if we are getting a Superman teaser or trailer before the end of the year.

Gunn didn’t say anything but he replied back coyly with a “thinking face emoji.”

When will the Superman trailer be released?

Obviously, there is no official word but if the Superman trailer or even a short teaser is going to get released this year, it’s likely at two possible times and locations.

Superman trailer could be at the NYCC

James Gunn has confirmed he will be at next week’s New York Comic-Con along with Creature Commandos. It could be possible Gunn shows the first Superman trailer at the event. Gunn will be at the NYCC on Saturday.

Superman trailer more likely at CCXP

The second possibility, which I think is more likely, is that the Superman trailer will be shown at the upcoming Brazil CCXP convention in December. The CCXP is absolutely huge and takes place Dec. 5-8.

James Gunn’s Superman is “solid”

While I was at Comic-Con over the summer, I know they were already working on the Superman trailer, so it should be really good as they’ve had a lot of time to put into it. My DC insider at the SDCC also told me Gunn’s Superman flick is solid.

What is James Gunn’s Superman about?

Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025, starring David Corenswet as Clark Kent and the Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, with Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

DC describes the film as telling the story of the Man of Steel’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.

Superman is the true foundation of our creative vision for the DC Universe,” said James Gunn in the big DCU announcement. “Not only is Superman an iconic part of DC lore, he is also a favorite character for comic book readers, viewers of earlier movies, and fans around the world. I can’t wait to introduce our version of Superman who audiences will be able to follow and get to know across films, movies, animation and gaming.”

Who also stars in James Gunn’s Superman?

Also starring includes Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, with María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Making up the Daily Planet cast includes Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Beck Bennet as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White.

The additional cast includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. who will also be appearing in Creature Commandos and Peacemaker Season 2, with Alan Tudyk in a mystery role.

Milly Alcock is also said to be appearing for the first time as Supergirl prior to her movie which gets released in 2026.

Pruitt Taylor Vince is playing Jonathan Kent and Neva Howell is playing Martha Kent. Sean Gunn will also debut as Maxwell Lord. Sara Sampaio has been cast as Eve Teschmacher, and Terence Rosemore is playing Otis. Christopher Reeve’s son, Will Reeve, also has a cameo role.
