Kraven' Predicted To Flop Like 'Madame Web: Director Pleads With Fans

I said when Madame Web bombed that Sony should get rid of whoever it is that is in charge of the Marvel movies. None of the flicks have ever been good, and we can go back as far as the Amazing Spider-Man movies to prove my point. These type of films aren’t hard to get right, after all, there is decades and decades of source material to rely upon. However, when your ego is that big and you don’t care about the source material or respect the fans, it’s a recipe for a complete disaster. That’s Sony Marvel in a nutshell.

Now the latest is that estimates offer Kraven the Hunter will be the next Sony Marvel movie to mega bomb. It gets released next month. The flick also follows Tom Hardy’s Venom: The Last Dance which sucked big time. Hardy doesn’t give a shit about the source material and definitely has no respect for the fans. Likewise, with the clowns that put together Madame Web and Morbius.

What are the Kraven box office estimates?

So get this, estimates offer Kraven could open to as low as $20 million for its opening weekend. Madame Web? Opened to $15 million. Those numbers are horrible. It’s also less than Morbius‘ $39M.

Hardy’s Venom 3 opened to much more, at $51M; however, that is basically a 50% drop from the previous Venom‘s $90 million opening. The first Venom opened to $80M.

If the message from fans isn’t loud and clear that they are sick of this garbage (not sick of comic book movies), Sony must have their heads so far up each other’s you-know-what’s that they can’t see daylight.

What does the Kraven director say?

With the estimates being really low and the previous Sony Marvel movies being complete garbage, it seems Kraven director J.C. Chandor is well aware of the situation. And I got to hand it to him for coming out and saying something. This at least tells me Chandor has some pride and cares about his work, again unlike Hardy, Kelly Marcel, SJ Clarkson, Daniel Espinosa, and all of Sony’s bozo producers involved with Marvel (Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach).

Speaking with CB.com, Chandor says to give Kraven a chance. He doesn’t come out and blast Sony Marvel like I do, but you can read between the lines:

“I don’t want to get too into the nitty gritty of it, but here’s what I would say: for me as a filmmaker, my number one goal, especially, quite frankly, over the last couple of years where you guys are deep in this world … some of the fans out there, a lot of the fans, were upset with certain decisions and certain outcomes [of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe]. Then with other films, they’ve gone on to be tremendous successes. So there’s been there’s been a mixed success rate. People have got to give us a chance and come out and support this film, and literally try to wash away some of the other stuff that’s happened. Give our film a chance.”

“And I think they’ll realize that we’ve done everything we can to give them a pretty fun story. You’ll see when the movie’s over, there’s potential for a lot of things to happen. But my goal was to isolate our movie, protect it, and just tell a good damn story. And then we’ll have opportunities to do a lot of fun things.”

Hey, let’s hope Kraven is good. If it is, I’ll be sure to say so. It can’t be any worse than Madame Web, right?

Kraven the Hunter gets released Dec. 13 and stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe.

The official synopsis offers: Kraven the Hunter is the action-packed, R-rated, standalone story of how one of Marvel’s most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless gangster father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
