Marvel’s Wolverine Reveals First Look At Jean Grey And Callisto

Marvel’s Wolverine Reveals First Look At Jean Grey And Callisto

Marvel’s Wolverine is already making noise after the State of Play 2026 gameplay trailer, and now fans have a better look at two more mutants joining Logan in Insomniac’s PS5 game: Jean Grey and Callisto.

The new gameplay footage shows Jean Grey fighting alongside Wolverine, while another shot confirms Callisto, the Morlocks leader, played by Debra Wilson.

The reveal comes after the massive Insomniac leaks, which included early character art for Jean Grey that sparked a lot of fan backlash online.

Based on the new footage, it looks like Insomniac may have updated Jean’s look, at least slightly, from the leaked model. The red hair is still there, but the finished footage gives her a more polished in-game appearance than the earlier leaked art.

Jean Grey Gets An Updated Look

Jean Grey appears in the new Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay footage using her powers while fighting with Logan.

IGN’s interview with Insomniac game director Mike Daly confirms Jean can fight on her own, open enemies up for Logan, and use her telepathy to help Wolverine during stealth sections by dimming enemy perceptions. Daly also said Jean and Logan will work together more later in the game.

The reveal is worth watching because of the earlier leaks. The leaked Jean Grey art didn’t go over well with a lot of fans, who felt the design looked off compared to the comic book version of the character. The new footage looks like a cleaner pass, with Jean closer to the familiar red-haired X-Men hero fans know.

Insomniac hasn’t officially addressed the leak designs or any possible changes, but the first gameplay look should cool some of the criticism.

Callisto Appears In The Trailer

The footage also appears to show Callisto, the Morlocks leader from Marvel Comics.

In the comics, Callisto is usually depicted as a white, one-eyed mutant with an eyepatch and a rough street-level look. The game version changes the character’s appearance and appears to feature Debra Wilson in the role.

Wilson’s casting as Callisto was part of the earlier leaked cast list, which also included Liam McIntyre as Wolverine, Krizia Bajos as Jean Grey, Brett Gipson as Sabretooth, Nicole Pacent as Mystique, Raphael Korkhill as Omega Red, Troy Baker as Mister Sinister, Kelly Hu as Tyger Tiger, Noga Wind as Leech, Jonathan Toshiobu Tanigaki as Sunfire, Jeff Nordling as Sasquatch, and Jolean Kim as Deathstrike.

IMDb currently lists Liam McIntyre as James “Logan” Howlett / Wolverine and Jolean Kim as Yuriko Oyama / Deathstrike.

Confirmed Characters Keep Growing

Marvel’s Wolverine already has a big mutant roster.

The game stars Liam McIntyre as Logan / Wolverine, with Jean Grey now shown in gameplay and Sabretooth revealed at the end of the new footage.

Daly told IGN that Logan and Sabretooth are actually on a team together in the game, but their dynamic is competitive, with Sabretooth even stealing kills from Logan during combat.

PlayStation previously confirmed Mystique, Omega Red, and the Reavers are part of the game, with the Reavers serving as one of the enemy factions.

The 2025 PlayStation Blog also teased a prototype of a “purple robot,” pointing to a Sentinel-style threat tied to the X-Men side of the story.

The new State of Play footage also features Leech, with Logan helping mutants around the world as part of the story.

Insomniac says Marvel’s Wolverine takes place in Earth-1048, the same universe as its Spider-Man games, but Spider-Man will not appear.

Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Sony showed seven minutes of gameplay at State of Play, featuring Logan in the classic yellow suit and plenty of bloody claw combat.
