Man of Tomorrow Set Video Shows Off Lex Warsuit Battle Scene, James Gunn Directing

New Man of Tomorrow set footage has surfaced online, and this time Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor Warsuit is in action.

The video appears to come from downtown Atlanta, where James Gunn’s Superman sequel is currently filming.

The scene takes place outside a theater marked Don Giovanni, with Lex in the Warsuit apparently involved in some kind of battle.

According to the X user who posted the footage, Lex is blasted out through a hole in a wall and flies backward onto the street.

The footage shows the Warsuit landing face up outside the theater as the production films the scene.

Lex Luthor Warsuit Gets Blasted Into The Street

The new footage gives fans a better idea of how Gunn is using Lex Luthor’s Warsuit in Man of Tomorrow.

This isn’t just a quick costume reveal. The armor appears to be part of a major action sequence, with Lex taking a hit and getting launched out of the theater during the scene.

The X user also posted earlier footage of the stunt team practicing the moment before the production used the actual Warsuit. Gunn has confirmed the Lex Warsuit is practical and not CGI, which makes the set footage even more interesting.

The final shot will likely be cleaned up with visual effects, but the suit itself is real on set.

James Gunn Seen Directing On Set

The footage also shows James Gunn walking around the set with coffee in hand while giving direction.

Gunn has been keeping fans updated throughout production, first by releasing the official look at Nicholas Hoult in the Lex Luthor Warsuit with the caption, “Fit check. Live from the set of Man of Tomorrow.”

Now the set video shows the suit being used for an action scene, not just a still image or promo shot.

Follows First Superman Set Video

The new Warsuit video follows the first set footage of David Corenswet back as Superman.

Those earlier videos showed Corenswet suited up as the Man of Steel during a nighttime scene, suspended above the street while holding what looked like a blue object overhead.

The question is: Where is Superman for this scene?! Update: New footage shows Gunn directing Corenswet how to fight Lex in the Warsuit.

Superman And Lex Team Up Against Brainiac

Man of Tomorrow is expected to see Superman and Lex Luthor forced into an uneasy alliance against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger.

Gunn has teased the Superman/Brainiac conflict by saying Brainiac is “what happens when intelligence loses ALL connection to humanity,” while Superman is “as human as anyone.”
