The Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman Recommends Genndy Tartakovsky To Direct Star Wars

While many names have been crossed off the list to direct the new Star Wars Episode VII movie in 2015, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman wants to add one.

Kirkman was tweeting earlier about Star Wars – how “obsessed” he is with all the news – and wondered why the director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars wasn’t on anybody’s list.

I’m shocked I haven’t heard Genndy Tartakovsky come up in the director speculation. His Clone Wars cartoons were awesome. He’d be great!

Kirkman is also disappointed to learn about Brad Bird being taking out of contention to direct Star Wars as well, tweeting to Brad Bird:

nnooooooooooooo!!

Tartakovsky will be directing the upcoming new Popeye movie from Sony, which has a September 26, 2014 release date.

Robert Kirkman writes the monthly The Walking Dead comic book, with the TV show airing Sundays at 9pm ET on AMC.
