Tom Cruise Partners With Warner Bros. Discovery

Tom Cruise Partners With Warner Bros. Discovery

This I didn’t see coming, but Warner Bros. Discover officially announces a big partnership with Tom Cruise.

Per the official announcement below, WBD and the actor will jointly develop and produce original and franchise theatrical films beginning this year.

The partnership sees Tom Cruise’s production company have offices on the Warner Bros. Discovery lot in Burbank.

Cruise was at WB back in 2014 and released Edge of Tomorrow along with seven movies he made with the studio including Rock of Ages, The Last Samurai, Magnolia, Eyes Wide Shut, Interview with the Vampire, Risky Business, and The Outsiders

It’s been said an Edge of Tomorrow sequel will happen for a while now, so maybe the flick will get put into active development.

Interestingly enough, the news follows it said Warner Bros. Discovery is interested in taking over Paramount where Cruise has been with his Mission Impossible movies.

According to the trades, this isn’t an exclusive deal and Tom Cruise will continue to work with Paramount on Mission Impossible and with Universal on that $200 Million space film with Doug Liman and Elon Musk.

Of course, DC fans could also be drooling at the thought the Top Gun star could suit up as part of James Gunn’s DCU. Fan castings and rumors throughout the years have cast Tom Cruise as Green Lantern Hal Jordan. How about Adam Strange?

Our vision, from day one, has been to rebuild this iconic studio to the heights of its glory days, and, in fact, when we first sat down with David Zaslav to talk about joining the Warner Bros. Discovery team, he said to us, ‘We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros. back – we have the best resources, storytelling IP, and talent in the business – and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!’ Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition.
