Christopher Nolan’s next film is shaping up to be a full-scale epic.
Along with the epic 6-minute preview released, new images from The Odyssey offer a first real look at the fractured family at the center of the story, with Matt Damon playing Odysseus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous.

A Family Torn Apart
Damon stars as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, who spends a decade trying to return home after the Trojan War.
Hathaway plays his wife Penelope, left behind to rule Ithaca while fending off suitors eager for both her hand and the throne.
Holland portrays their son Telemachus, who grows up without his father and sets out to learn what really happened to him.

The images highlight the emotional divide between the three, reinforcing that Nolan’s take isn’t just about mythic battles, but about separation, legacy, and family strain.

A Stacked Cast and Mythic Scope
In addition to Damon, Hathaway, and Holland, the film features Robert Pattinson as Antinous, along with Himesh Patel, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, and more.

Universal describes The Odyssey as a “mythic action epic” filmed across the world using new IMAX technology.
Nolan both wrote and directed the film, producing alongside Emma Thomas.

Release Date
The Odyssey opens in theaters on July 17, 2026.
The journey is anything but simple, with Odysseus facing legendary threats along the way, including the Cyclops Polyphemus, the deadly Sirens whose songs lure men to their deaths, and the witch Circe, who turns his crew into pigs.
