The Batman: Part Two: Robin Rumored

More rumors surround Matt Reeves The Batman: Part Two with it claimed Robin will be in the movie.

The rumor comes from the MyTimeToShineHello Twitter account who goes so far as to say that Robin is in the flick and that it’s Dick Grayson.

“I know Robin is in it (Dick Grayson),” tweeted the account in response to being asked what do you know besides Clayface being in the movie.

Just yesterday saw it again said that Clayface will also be in The Batman 2.

James Gunn and Andy Muschietti also going with Robin

What’s interesting (or odd) with the rumor that Matt Reeves is going to go with Robin in Batman 2, is that the James Gunn DCU is also going with Robin in The Brave and the Bold that has The Flash director Andy Muschietti attached to direct.

However, Gunn and Muschietti’s version of Robin won’t be Dick Grayson, but Batman’s son, Damian Wayne.

Damian Wayne happens to be a lot different than Dick Grayson, as Grayson is more a good guy and Batman’s sidekick, as per Gunn’s own words, Damian is “a little son of a bitch.”

“This is the introduction of the DCU Batman,” said Gunn back in January. “Of Bruce Wayne and also introduces our favorite Robin, Damian Wayne, who is a little son of a bitch. Assassin, murderer who Batman takes on, who is Batman’s actual son that he doesn’t know exists for the first 8-10 years of his life….it’s a strange father and son story about the two of them and based on Grant Morrison’s run of the Batman.”

Gunn also said his Batman wouldn’t interfere with Reeves’ The Batman: Part Two, but again, both of them using Robin seems a little odd (so that means two Batman and Robins at the same time).

“Yes. Matt is working on The Batman – Part II, which he thinks of as a Batman crime saga that also includes the Penguin TV series,” said Gunn when the DCU was first announced. “The Batman is its own thing. Matt’s hard at work on it. He came in and pitched us some amazing stuff the other day, so our plan is for that to continue.”

Why does Batman have Robin?

My own two cents: I’ve never been a big fan of Robin. I just can’t see someone like Batman training a young kid to go out and fight bad guys and crime. You can train Robin to be the best fighter or whatever, but a 12-year-old kid isn’t going to be any match for an adult that knows how to fight. I suppose that’s what happened to Jason Todd, eh?

I also spoke with a Batman comic book writer last year at Comic-Con who agreed with me and said he never used Robin because he has kids and didn’t want to visualize bad guys punching them in the face.

Someone make a case why Batman has a Robin in the comments. Thanks!

The Batman: Part II gets released on October 3, 2025 starring Robert Pattinson with filming said to start in March.
