Jeffrey Dean Morgan Comments On Walking Dead Season 6 Finale Reaction

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the man behind Negan and the scene causing all the controversy (though obviously of no fault), comments on last night’s Season 6 finale to The Walking Dead.

Variety jotted down Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s comments at a press event, where Morgan notes not even he knew the episode was going to end the way it did.

I didn’t know it was going to be a cliffhanger until I watched the show – that was how it was done in my world. I don’t know if any of the cast knew how exactly it was going to end, which caused a lot of the uncertainty and emotion to be going on. That being said, in talking to Scott and Robert last night, I think their explanation [was] that that was the end of the story for that season, and that is that Rick has lost control, and there’s Negan, and Negan has all the control and I think that’s where they wanted to end the story — and it’s not about the death of that person … the death of the person is gonna kick off 7, and Season 7 will be a big part of who is on the receiving end of Lucille. I understand the fans’ frustration, I get that. That being said… I have to trust these writers and showrunners, they know what they’re doing. It’s been a show that a lot of people watch for six seasons and I believe they’ll be back to see who met Lucille and as the story continues to grow.

Of further interest is that Jeffrey Dean Morgan makes note The Walking Dead Season 7 will pick up right where the Season 6 finale left off, and that the plan for the show is to follow how Negan is depicted in the comics.

That would be the hope, yeah, that’s the impression I have [to show the graphic detail of whoever met Lucille], we will pick up directly from what we saw last night that ends Season 6, on that note, and Season 7 is gonna pick up right where we left off. So yeah, you’re gonna see who’s at the end of that bat and what happens from there.

I know a little bit, I know where we’re going. I’ve got a stack of the “Walking Dead” comic books next to my bed here. I think we’re going to stick pretty close to what you see in the graphic novel with this character because he’s so iconic to this world, so this storyline is going to stay true. From what I understand talking to Scott Gimple and Robert Kirkman, we’re gonna try and keep it pretty close. I think that’s something to be able to look forward to because it’s a great storyline.

“The Walking Dead” stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick, Chandler Riggs as Carl, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl, Lennie James as Morgan, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Alanna Masterson as Tara, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Alexandra Breckenridge as Jesse, and Austin Nichols as Spencer.

Greg Nicotero Compares Walking Dead Season 6 Finale To Empire Strikes Back (LOL)

AMC must be really feeling the heat following last night’s terrible episode of The Walking Dead Season 6 finale.

The interviews are beginning to hit the net, with some of the responses so ridiculous, they are coming as off being in panic mode.

Yesterday saw showrunner Scott Gimple compare the cliffhanger to Lost (lol), and now EP Greg Nicotero goes so far as to compare the final scene to  – get this – Empire Strikes Back!

Nicotero tells EW the following about knowing that this was going to anger some people who have to wait over six months to find out what happened.

I remember sitting in the theater watching Empire Strikes Back and having Darth Vader say “I am your father” and I was shocked and amazed, and I don’t remember being angry. I don’t remember saying, “Oh, I give up on Star Wars because that’s lame.”

I’m actually not even sure what he’s trying to say. Did Empire Strikes back cut off when Darth Vader said, “Luke, I am your —,” and then we had to wait until another movie to find out the answer?

Because that’s exactly what Gimple and Nicotero’s episode DID.

Or is it that Nicotero is stating that he felt the Darth Vader reveal in Empire Strikes Back was lame, but that it didn’t stop him from continuing to watch Star Wars, so those that think the ending in Walking Dead was lame should continue to watch as well?

It’s no wonder The Walking Dead Season 6 had such a bad ending.

They blew such a huge opportunity to capitalize on that Negan scene, which should have been a rewarding experience for viewers, but instead just p’d off a lot of fans with some of them even saying they’re done with the series.

“With Preacher coming on, I may not come back to The Walking Dead,” a friend of mine told me. “I just watched Batman Vs. Superman and The Walking Dead yesterday, I may end up burning my comic collection.”

Walking Dead’s Robert Kirkman & Scott Gimple Compare Season 6 Finale To Lost (LOL)

Dang it. I think Robert Kirkman has finally gone over to the dark side.

Following tonight’s uber disappointing Season 6 finale, EW.com spoke with Kirkman and showrunner Scott Gimple who comment on the cliffhanger and fan reaction to the episode.

What’s rather intersting is that the interview (more than likely) took place prior to the episode aired, so they knew going in that fans weren’t going to like it.

Gimple even compares the cliffhanger scene to Lost (lol).  Holy clueless.

I’m actually wonder if AMC themselves don’t even know who died. Think about it. Say for example, if Norman Reedus is leaving the series to do another, but his new series tanks, he may come back, so he’ll live. But say Reedus decides not to come back, then he dies. Honestly, it’s the only reason I can come up with that explains how bad the episode was.

Scott M. Gimple on the cliffhanger ending:

“The end of the story is what people saw. And when we reveal who was on the receiving end there, that’s going to be the start of another story. The kickback effects from that, what it makes everyone into, how people react, how the world changes for everyone, that’s the next part of the story.”

Kirkman on the cliffhanger ending:

“I’m feeling, oddly, great. I’m very excited where it’s at. What’s happening in the show is extremely sad and extremely depressing but I think it’s going to put us into a good place going into season 7.”

Kirkman on people being upset abot the cliffhanger:

“First of all, as a fan, I love cliffhangers. I love that tension. I love the anticipation of finding out what it is. If you read the comic book series, I think pretty much every issue ends with a big cliffhanger… And I think that’s a lot of fun. But this story, the cliffhanger isn’t the story. The story of the episode, and Scott and Matt Negrete did such a great hob of setting up how confident Rick was going into this. This episode is about the loss of that confidence. It’s about changing that mindset. It’s about tearing Rick Grimes down and that’s the conclusion of this story. So while it does seem like a cliffhanger, that’s the conclusion. And the story of who died, the story of what comes next, of who Negan killed, of what comes after that, that’s really the story of season 7.”

Gimple on people being upset about the cliffhanger:

“I would say, when they opened up the hatch [on Lost], we had to wait and see who was in the hatch. I liked thinking about that. I liked talking about it. … We have to do an episode that justifies it to you. We have to do something so great and so intense that you’re like ‘Okay, all right, fair play.’ That’s the challenge we have and we’re going to do it. We’re going to deliver you something fantastic. … We want you to be one of those people in that lineup. We want you to feel that suspense and that terror and that pain, and were going to deliver you a story next season that justifies it.”

The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale: Who Dies?

Tonight sees the highly anticipated Season 6 finale air of The Walking Dead featuring Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan.

Below you can check out teasers and preview images associated with the episode.

The #1 question on everybody’s mind is: Who will die?

The contenders seem to be the obvious with Daryl; if you are a comic fan – Glenn, and then there is also Carol, Rick, Abraham and maybe even Maggie.

Regarding Maggie, more than likely we won’t see Negan bash a pregnant women’s head in, but it’s possible she could die during her miscarriage(?) or child birth.

I’ll also throw in, at least in the comics, I don’t think Negan has ever killed a woman, so we can possibly scratch off both Maggie and Carol.

That leaves Daryl, Glenn, Abraham and Rick.

Honestly, again if you are a fan of the comic books, Glenn is too obvious of a choice, and he did almost die like a half dozen times this season. Still, the potential is there as the series does follow the comics at times, and we could see both Glenn and Maggie die.

Daryl is the obvious choice because we saw he was shot last episode by Dwight, who may deliver Daryl to Negan. Daryl could also be a good choice because Norman Reedus may want to start doing more movies and such, and Reedus will also be on Talking Dead tonight (we all know what that means), which brings us to Rick.

A while back, Andrew Lincoln was rumored to want off The Walking Dead because filming in the U.S. was said to be strain on his family. Lincoln could be another Walking Dead actor that’s Hollywood bound, and I’m surprised he already hasn’t been in any featured movies. I wonder if his TWD contract actually forbids him from starring in other projects? Maybe his contract is up now?

Some other potential characters from The Walking Dead that Negan could kill off include Sasha (probably not – see reason above), Gabriel (might not be a “big” enough shock) and Morgan (doubt it).

My money is on Abraham because: a) he is a pretty popular character, and b) what happened with Abraham in the comics.

Andrew Lincoln also described Negan’s entrance as “the greatest entrance ever written.”

The Walking Dead Season 6 finale airs tonight with a 90-minute episode on AMC.

“Last Day On Earth” Episode synopsis:

Rick and the group must go outside the walls to save one of their own. What they experience on the road will change their lives forever.

Watch: Two Most Talked About The Walking Dead “East” Scenes (Spoilers)

Spoilers follow for

The Walking Dead.

Watch the two most talked about scenes from tonight's episode of The Walking Dead.

The first features Carol cleaning house as she encounters more of Negan's Saviors. I'm not sure what's up with Carol. Is she really having a crisis of faith? Well, it ain't stopping her from killing people, though in Carol's defense — it is in self-defense.

The second is a big spoiler: The final scene of the episode. I'm kind of disappointed by it, that the group let themselves get captured, but is this the end of Daryl Dixon?! I did have to rewind the scene and watch it a second time. I'm pretty sure Dwight shot Daryl in the shoulder area.

That said, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan appearing on next week's season finale, who is going to bite the big one? Or, I guess, eventually bite it when they turn into a Walker?

Andrew Lincoln has been rumored to want off the show.

“Preacher” is a supernatural, twisted and darkly comedic drama that follows a West Texas preacher named Jesse Custer, who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that causes him to develop a highly unusual power. Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vagabond named Cassidy come together and when they do, they are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

USA Today reports The Walking Dead at Universal will be part of a permanent walk-through attraction at the Southern California theme park coming this Summer featuring “authentic walker makeup effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series.”

The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero and his special-effects makeup team are on board the project to bring the Walkers to life — and death.

“There are moments from the television show that we’ll get a chance to recreate much more faithfully than we would in a maze,” said Nicotero. “You’ll get some great opportunities to see things from Season 1 and some stuff from Seasons 3 and 4. It’s a little bit of a walk down memory lane for us. I love it. I think it says a lot that we’re getting an opportunity to be part of a Walking Dead experience that’s 365 days a year”

Details on The Walking Dead Universal Studios Hollywood attraction include: favorite vignettes and characters from the six seasons of the series will be featured, and the live performers and animatronics will focus on the zombies rather than actors on the show.

The Walking Dead is a phenomenon that has successfully and consistently affected the psyche of viewers on a global basis, since its debut,” Universal Studios Hollywood president Larry Kurzweil said in a statement. “We’re taking its intensity to the next level by collaborating with the show’s award-winning production team to create an authentic living representation of the series that can only be experienced at Universal Studios Hollywood.”

Watch: The Walking Dead 6×13 Most Talked About Scene

This season of The Walking Dead might be the best since the series first premiered, and we haven’t even met Negan, yet!

And tonight definitely didn’t disappoint as Carol and Maggie were forced to take out the remaining Saviors.

The episode saw both Carol and Maggie question whether or not they could keep doing what they are doing — which is living.

It’s probably safe to assume that Carol and Maggie realized if they keep up with their present situation, their future is what they were forced to take out tonight, in that they will end up just like the Saviors.

The episode also brings up a good question: In the world that is now “The Walking Dead,” can you survive without becoming a “Savior” (or a Governor for that matter, which arguably is where Rick seems to be headed)?

In essence what they, or just about everybody, is doing, is trading their souls for life — literally becoming The Walking Dead.

Check out the “Most Talked About” scene from tonight’s episode featuring Carol and Maggie taking out the last of the Saviors.

The preview for the next episode can be found here.

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays at 9pm ET on AMC starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick, Chandler Riggs as Carl, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl, Lennie James as Morgan, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Alanna Masterson as Tara, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Alexandra Breckenridge as Jesse, and Austin Nichols as Spencer.

James Gunn Doesn’t Deny Sylvester Stallone Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Rumor

The past week or so has seen rumors hit the net regarding Sylvester Stallone being involved with Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

The first rumor stated Sly was going cosmic when he allegedly was spotted at the same Atlanta hotel the cast of GOTG 2 is staying at, and it was also said Stallone was seen with the script and used the same car as Chris Pratt.

Following that, a second rumor hit the net suggesting Sylvester Stallone is playing a member of the Nova Corps, as it’s said he was spotted wearing what resembles a Judge Dredd costume.

We know James Gunn is big on social media and loves to read all about his Guardians of the Galaxy movie (ha ha). A few days ago saw Gunn comment on rumors surrounding the film. Though he made no mention of Stallone – Gunn says he isn’t commenting on rumors anymore – he neither denies nor confirms the rumor, but does offer a cryptic response via Facebook.

Sometimes rumors around ‪#‎GotGVol2‬ turn up that are batshit crazy. Other times rumors turn up that are batshit crazy AND untrue. Unfortunately, you’ll just have to wait a while to find out which ones are which. I’m done spoiling the fun.

Back to shooting a scene with Man-Thing and Chris Pratt.*

*All right, that one’s untrue. For now…

The post also saw Gunn answer a few fan questions:

Better to debunk rumours or to have fun with them?

As I announced a couple months ago, I will ignore all of them.

Hey James what would be the likelyhood of a symbiote showing up in a future Guardians/cosmic Marvel film?

As of now very unlikely.

Hey Mr Gunn when you saw Civil War did you offer any suggestions/improvements? Or was the movie done the best it could already?

I offered suggestions, but mostly just told them what I thought worked and the (very little) that didn’t work.

If asked would you ever direct a episode of The Walking Dead

Nope. There’s no current TV show I’d direct.

Are any of these rumours ever started by yourself or the cast?!

No.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” has a May 5, 2017 release starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.

New Robert Kirkman TV Series Announced With “Five Year”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:24537:]]

Robert Kirkman, the creator behind The Walking Dead, is launching a new Korean-based TV series with Five Year, a pre-apocalyptic series, about a family living under the threat of a deadly meteor headed toward Earth.

The series will first debut on Korean TV and to the rest of the world on the digital global TV site Viki.

Find more details below.

Info:

Viki, the global TV site powered by fans, today announced that it is partnering with Skybound Entertainment to produce “Five Year,” a series based on an original story by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman. The pre-apocalyptic series, about a family living under the threat of a deadly meteor headed toward Earth, will be filmed as a Korean drama.

“This has been a story I have wanted to tell for quite some time, but David [Alpert] and I wanted to make sure it found a proper home where it could grow and breathe creatively. Looking at what Viki has done in not only the dramatic series space, but transforming the way viewers consume and translate media, we knew immediately ‘Five Year’ had found its home,” said Robert Kirkman, CEO and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment and creator of “Five Year.”

The series will debut its first 16-episode season on Korean broadcast television and worldwide on Viki. The series will take place over the course of five years with five seasons anticipated. Filming will begin later this year.

“As devoted fans of Korean cinema, television, and culture, we’re thrilled to be launching what we hope is the first of many collaborations with the Korean entertainment industry. “Five Year”, which tells the story of one family dealing with the impending apocalypse, is the perfect property to launch our partnership. It highlights the intense interpersonal moments that Korean dramas capture so well, and sets them against the epic backdrop for which Skybound has become known,” said president and co-founder of Skybound Entertainment David Alpert.

“In many ways, Viki and Skybound represent the future of global entertainment, particularly with Hollywood-Asia collaborations and VOD platforms like Viki leading distribution and fan-building,” said Tammy H. Nam, CEO of Viki. “We’re thrilled to be working with the creators and executive producers of one of the most popular TV series of all time. The fact that David and Robert wanted to make ‘Five Year’ as a K-drama is a testament to the massive global popularity and quality of Asian programming.”

“Five Year” is the second original series produced by Viki. “Dramaworld,” a 10-episode miniseries set in Los Angeles and Korea with a multinational cast and crew, will debut spring 2016 on Viki.com. “Dramaworld” is a co-production with China’s Jetavana Entertainment, EnterMedia Contents, and Third Culture Content.
