Watch: The Walking Dead Mid-Season 6 Premiere Clip

Watch a clip above for the return of Season 6 of The Walking Dead “No Way Out” feauring Negan’s Saviors.

Robert Kirkman previously described the Saviors as:

I think the Saviors are dangerously organized. The Wolves were psychotic, the Hunters [the group from Terminus] had a lot of weaknesses. When it comes to the Saviors, and Negan in particular, the way I’ve always thought about this in the comics is this is a group that’s led by a guy who’s had his morality dial a few clicks away from Rick toward the darker aspects of his personality, but is still an intellectual and capable leader who’s kept his group alive against all odds just as long as Rick has. It’s really the best encountering the best. When these two forces come head to head, things are gonna get interesting. This is a much different group than they’ve ever encountered. The Saviors are a group they’re not really prepared for.

“The Walking Dead” returns Sunday, February 14th at 9pm ET on AMC starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick, Chandler Riggs as Carl, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl, Lennie James as Morgan, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Alanna Masterson as Tara, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Alexandra Breckenridge as Jesse, and Austin Nichols as Spencer.

Negan’s An Atomic Bomb For The Walking Dead Season 6

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23846:]]

The mid-season finale of The Walking Dead revealed Negan will be introduced as it featured the Saviors confronting Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham.

Creator Robert Kirkman offered the following about Negan, who will be played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, to EW.com:

“As far as shake-ups go, we have lots of shake-ups from season to season. It keeps things interesting — keeps the blood pumping, I like to say — but Negan is kind of an atomic bomb that’s going to be dropped on the show and the show will probably never be the same after that. So buckle up, I guess?”

I think the Saviors are dangerously organized. The Wolves were psychotic, the Hunters [the group from Terminus] had a lot of weaknesses. Walking Dead Fan Bites Norman Reedus

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23141:]]

Talking about taking things a bit too literally, while attending the Walker Stalker Con on Saturday, a female fan of The Walking Dead apparently was overcome with zombie thoughts as she bit Norman Reedus during a photo op.

Robin Grover is said to have approached Reedus and told him she imagines they are married as well as stating it’s their anniversary. Following the picture being taken of the fan, Reedus and Michael Rooker, Robin Grover apparently bit Norman.

Michael Rooker is reported to have said, “What the f**k was that?!” with security quickly responding and escorting Grover out of the convention.

The fan took to her Instagram account to offer an apology:

“Finally meet the love of my life, and get banned from the rest of the CON and lose two more $100 photo ops with him because I lost my mind…got so excited standing beside him…and just turned my head and bit him! I don’t know what came over me. It wasn’t my intention to hurt him. I’m sorry, Norman!”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23142:]]

It doesn’t appear to be all that bad as Norman Reedus also posted about the incident on his Facebook:

Um please don’t

Watch: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Talks Negan On The Walking Dead

For the first time we hear from Jeffrey Dean Morgan who has been cast as the new bad guy in The Walking Dead.

Morgan participated in a Q&A at PasCon where he offers the following in the above video:

“The role we are talking about is The Walking Dead. The role of Negan. It’s a whole different ball game. You all know about Negan? Me, too. That’s why I did it. Here is what I will tell you about Negan… When my agent/manager called they said, ‘You’ve been offered this thing on The Walking Dead…to play this big bad.” Which is supposed to be secret, and I’m like, ‘Is it fucking Negan?’ And they’re like, ‘I don’t know, we’re going to call you back. Hold on a second.’ And I’m like, ‘No, it’s fucking Negan. And I’m fucking doing it.’ I think the challenge for this role in me is going to be ‘is there any heart in Negan.’ For me I look at that as a challenge for an actor…

Negan was name-dropped in the mid-season after credit scene for The Walking Dead.

The Invincible mini-mates can be seen on the shelf below from the episode.

In case you didn’t know, prior to The Walking Dead, MTV developed an Invincible animated motion comic series.

Andrew Lincoln Talks Negan’s Saviors In The Walking Dead

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:23068:]]

AMC happened to release a two-minute prologue for last night’s The Walking Dead (watch here) which name-dropped Negan.

In the comics, Negan’s followers are known as “The Saviors,” and now we hear from Andrew Lincoln about the nefarious group.

Ew.com caught up with Lincoln who offered the following:

It almost feels like the end of episode 9 is a chapter finish, and then episode 10 is a completely different flavor, something we’ve never seen before in the show. And then what begins to happen — because we’ve been looking so inwardly, and it’s been much more about group dynamic and security — suddenly what happens is that the world starts to get a little bigger, and with that, we lift our heads up to the horizon, and in many instances the horizon is a beautiful in one direction, and in other directions it’s a terrible, terrible nightmare. It’s an exciting time.

We were shooting a scene in episode 16 and there was an energy on set that I haven’t felt since season 1. It’s such an exciting thing in so many ways because it was incredibly tough to shoot this scene and it was also something that we hadn’t seen before with Rick. It was a place that I hadn’t been to before as well as other people; it’s very, very thrilling. And also it just felt like we were going into deeper darker waters, and it felt right — the timing felt right, and I just had a feeling of what I felt in that first season, when I thought “Oh, I wonder what we’re doing here; I wonder what this is?” And it had that same level of commitment from everybody — and that was in the final episode of season 6. But it was an amazing, exciting, thrilling place to finish the season.

But in answer to your question I would say yes, they’re incredibly bad, far more organized, and far more terrifying than anything we’ve ever seen before. And things start to get very, very, very dark. But I mean, there is a glint of hope before that, and actually I think episode 9 and 10 are a couple of my favorite episodes. I think 9 more than anything when I read it, it kind of just blew my mind. I was like, “Are we going to be able to shoot it?” But then when it started to happen it took on a life of its own, and it felt like everything the show does well is encapsulated in that episode. Yeah it’s one of my favorites we’ve ever done. Saying that, I think the run-in to 16 is the strongest we’ve ever done. It’s just amazing — it just runs to the end.

The Walking Dead returns in February with Jeffrey Dean Morgan set to play Negan.
