The Walking Dead Coming To Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Hollywood will be undergoing a Walker apocalypse as a new attraction for The Walking Dead was announced tonight on Talking Dead.

USA Today reports The Walking Dead at Universal will be part of a permanent walk-through attraction at the Southern California theme park coming this Summer featuring “authentic walker makeup effects, sophisticated animatronic walkers, substantially more detailed set design and costuming, and highly recognizable props replicated from the series.”

The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero and his special-effects makeup team are on board the project to bring the Walkers to life — and death.

“There are moments from the television show that we’ll get a chance to recreate much more faithfully than we would in a maze,” said Nicotero. “You’ll get some great opportunities to see things from Season 1 and some stuff from Seasons 3 and 4. It’s a little bit of a walk down memory lane for us. I love it. I think it says a lot that we’re getting an opportunity to be part of a Walking Dead experience that’s 365 days a year”

Details on The Walking Dead Universal Studios Hollywood attraction include: favorite vignettes and characters from the six seasons of the series will be featured, and the live performers and animatronics will focus on the zombies rather than actors on the show.

The Walking Dead is a phenomenon that has successfully and consistently affected the psyche of viewers on a global basis, since its debut,” Universal Studios Hollywood president Larry Kurzweil said in a statement. “We’re taking its intensity to the next level by collaborating with the show’s award-winning production team to create an authentic living representation of the series that can only be experienced at Universal Studios Hollywood.”

“The Walking Dead” airs Sundays on AMC starring Andrew Lincoln as Rick, Chandler Riggs as Carl, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol, Sonequa Martin-Green as Sasha, Lauren Cohan as Maggie, Steven Yeun as Glenn, Norman Reedus as Daryl, Lennie James as Morgan, Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel, Michael Cudlitz as Abraham, Josh McDermitt as Eugene, Alanna Masterson as Tara, Christian Serratos as Rosita, Tovah Feldshuh as Deanna, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Alexandra Breckenridge as Jesse, and Austin Nichols as Spencer.
