Robert Downey Jr. and the Russo brothers seemingly tease more Marvel during The Avengers: Endgame watch party that was held on Monday. Director Joe Russo teased that they might have to do this again, meaning another MCU movie, which saw Robert Downey Jr. respond with an interesting comment. Robert Downey Jr. replied that his return
Following Jon Favreau revealing he jokingly discussed an Iron Man 4 with Kevin Feige, now interestingly enough the Marvel Studios president confirms there are plans for the “real” Mandarin. While participating in a Reddit AMA, Kevin Feige is asked: Without going into details about developing projects, are there any plans to incorporate the Ten Rings from the
With what happened in The Avengers: Endgame it seems odd talking about a potential Iron Man 4, but Jon Favreau mentions it while promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home where he returns as Happy Hogan. Now don’t get your hopes up as Favreau says he talked Iron Man 4 with Feige in a joking manner, but I suppose
Will Mel Gibson direct Iron Man 4? While it may be a long shot, in the latest issue of Total Film, Mel Gibson at least considers the possibility of Iron Man 4. The issue has a featured interview with Mel Gibson about his latest movie, with the article mentioning the Marvel rumors surrounding Mel Gibson
It will be inevitable that one day Marvel will have to replace Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man or Chris Evans as Captain America. Marvel Studios President and Produced Kevin Feige recently talked about the subject with the Toronto Sun. “I think it could be either one,” Kevin Feige said regarding using a different character
There is once again talk of Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man 4.
A few weeks ago saw Robert Downey Jr. mention if they did an Iron Man 4, he would want it to be his swan song where he plays more the villain role.
At the time, Robert Downey Jr. “didn’t think it was in the cards,” but now things may have changed.
In an featurette/interview with ABC News (watch below) for Captain America: Civil War, Robert Downey Jr. is seen stating, ” I feel like I can do one more.”
Reportedly, the reason for no Iron Man 4 was due to problems with Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter who didn’t want to pay RDJ all the money to star in another solo film. It’s possible now that Kevin Feige has ousted Perlmutter and the Marvel creative comics/TV people from any involvement in Marvel Studios, that Robert Downey Jr. may be able to star in Iron Man 4.
Let’s hope so.
“Captain America: Civil War” has a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.
Synopsis:
Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
It’s not a pleasant thought to think about, but eventually Robert Downey Jr. will leave the role of Iron Man.
Downey Jr. was considered a gamble back in 2008 to play the role of Tony Stark due to his sordid past, but obviously that gamble paid off as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the best movie franchises in existence.
Robert Downey Jr. recently said he doesn’t think an Iron Man 4 will ever happen, but at least he offered if it does, he thinks they should go the villain route with Tony Stark.
Now Joe Russo, co-director behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movies, offer his take on what could happen to Iron Man when Robert Downey Jr. stops playing the character.
“It’s almost impossible to replace Robert, he’s the biggest movie star in the world. One close up from Robert is worth another actor’s entire performance, he’s incredibly gifted and insanely talented,” Joe Russo offered to Forbes. “I think if and when he is done with the character, I think you will find that Iron Man might disappear for a while. I think the only way that you could reboot that character is to give a generational gap that would allow another actor to at least have a chance to redefine that character without the enormous spectre of Robert hanging over it. There are so many characters in the Marvel universe that can pick up the ball and run without it through the next phase or two before you need to see Iron Man again, frankly.”
Robert Downey Jr. next appears as Iron Man in May’s “Captain America: Civil War.”
It doesn’t sounds as if Iron Man 4 is going to happen any time soon, if at all.
USA Today visited the set of Captain America: Civil War where the subject of Iron Man 4 came up while talking with Robert Downey Jr.
It’s noted that Robert Downey Jr. thinks Iron Man 4 would be great, but the actor, who will be making his seventh appearance in a Marvel movie this May, offered, “I don’t think that’s in the cards.”
Robert Downey Jr. says his Iron Man 4 is Captain America: Civil War.
“In a way it’s Cap 3 but for me it’s like my little Iron Man 4 and then it’s back to the thing we all recognize,” Downey said. “Everything pulls over to the side of the road when the thunder of an Avengers thing comes through because that’s how it is until it changes. If it changes.”
Interestingly enough, while discussing if Tony Stark is the bad guy in Civil War, Robert Downey Jr. mentions he thinks that if they ever did a final Iron Man movie for him, he should be featured as the villain.
“If we’re going to go there, then we’ve got to save it for my swan song,” Downey said, while adding in Civil War he isn’t all that bad. “I would still like to keep a general audience and mildly be in their favor somehow.”
Robert Downey Jr. is expected back as Iron Man for The Avengers: Infinity War movies.

Captain America: Civil War trailer with Spider-Man:
Kevin Feige continues to make the press rounds for Avengers 2, with this time the president of Marvel Studios asked about a potentially non-white Spider-Man.
In the above video, Feige is asked about Miles Morales with Feige responding:
We’ve always thought it should be Peter. We’ve never seen the MCU version of Peter Parker. It felt like we needed to see that first. Miles, I think is awesome. There are opportunities for him, for sure, if this all works and continues.
The potenital for a non-white Spider-Man is then brought up, with Feige responding:
Maybe. The field is very wide right now in terms of who we are looking at within a certain age range.
Feige also answered questions on Captain Marvel and offered they didn’t want to introduce her flying around without anyone knowing her character, and Feige offered in an earlier version of an Avengers 2 script, Carol Danvers was a part of it.
Regarding Doctor Strange, Feige offers the supernatural side of the MCU is something they have been talking about for a long time. Feige says director Scott Derrickson and the producing team are scouting locations in NYC with filming to take place in London this November. Feige also offers Benedict Cumberbatch is so excited, and they haven’t discussed Strange’s accent yet (Cumberbatch is British).
Feige is also asked if there is a possibilty to add in other Marvel movies in Phase 3, like a Hulk movie or Iron Man 4. Feige said they already added in Spider-Man, but said he would be more worried about having to change the schedule again than adding in more movies.
On Thor 3, Feige offers they are currently writing the script and looking for a director(s) and again confirms Loki and Tom Hiddleston, and says Loki has an integral role in Thor: Ragnarok.
Regarding the two part Avengers: Infinity War films, Feige says they wouldn’t be one big movie cut in half, but two distinct movies.
Captain America 3 shoots in two weeks, with Feige offering Cap is still the primary focus.

Captain America: Civil War is set for May 2016 which will pit Captain America vs Iron Man and will introduce Black Panther and Spider-Man officially into the Marvel cinematic universe.
While speaking with Empire Online, Robert Downey Jr. offers details why he decided to be featured in the movie and also says it’s not Iron Man 4.
Ultimately it’s Steve’s story; it doesn’t say ‘Iron Man 4: Civil War’. I think that’s great too. I think Chris [Evans] has been hungry to bring even more of an underside and some shadow to that. I remember the comics – on the surface you got the sense that Cap was baseball and apple pie, but underneath there was all this churning stuff of being a man out of time. Now we know he’s made his peace with that. What’s the bigger issue? It can have a little something to do with the past, but it can be about someone becoming more modernized in their own conflict.
I’m crazy about Evans. I really am. I don’t know why or how to explain this particular kinship we have. By the way, he hasn’t called me in six months. Honestly, in order for this whole thing to have worked, I did my part, Hemsworth knocked it out of the stadium and then it fell on Cap. That was the riskiest. It was the one that had the highest degree of difficulty in making it translate to a modern audience. It was the Russos and Chris who, I think, really hit the line drive and won the series. I remember glancing through it going, “Wow, that’s a different way to go”. They said, “If we have you, we can do this or Cap 3 has to be something else”. It’s nice to feel needed.
And when they pitched it to me and when I had a couple of ideas and when they said we like those ideas, let’s do those. Then there’s all this competition too. I don’t do this because I look at it as a competition, but I look at the marketplace and go, ‘Maybe if these two franchises teamed up and I can take even a lesser position in support, with people I like and directors I respect, maybe we can keep things bumping along here a little longer than they might have’.
“Captain America: Civil War” has a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and Chadwick Boseman.
Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans can next be seen in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron out May 1, 2015.

The latest issue of Empire Magazine features Robert Downey Jr. discussing Captain America: Civil War, which follows The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
It’s learned that if Robert Downey Jr. didn’t do Captain America 3, but maybe an Iron Man 4 instead, “Civil War” would have never happened.
They said to me, ‘If we have you, we can do this, or Cap 3 has to be something else.’ It’s nice to feel needed. And at this point it’s about helping each other, too. I look at it as a competition and I go, ‘Wow, maybe if these two franchises teamed up and I can take even a lesser position, with people I like and directors I respect, maybe we can keep things bumping along.’
Robert Downey Jr. also teases the seed for Civil War is planted in The Avengers 2.
It’s natural to change your views…The main thing to me is, what sort of incident could occur, and what sort of framework could we find Tony in? The clues about where we might find him next are in Ultron. But what would it take for Tony to completely turn around everything he’s stood for? Joss brings this up all the time. It’s kind of weird that these guys would have all these throw downs all over planet Earth and yet when the movie’s over, nobody minds. What would the American government do if this were real? Wouldn’t it be interesting to see Tony doing something you wouldn’t imagine?
In the Marvel Comics Civil War storyline, Iron Man was looked at as more the villain than Captain America; however, Robert Downey Jr. offers and interesting tidbit in that it could be Steve Rogers who is the one more to change his ways than Tony Stark.
The biggest question is, for Chris and for Cap, how do we bring Cap to a place where people go, ‘Man, I never thought I would see such a vast change in Steve.’ After you see Snowpiercer, you’re like, ‘I want to see a little bit of that guy.’
