Two months ago saw the super cool Spider-Man vs. Darth Maul fan-film released.
Now the batinthesun YouTube channel has released an alternate ending. Check it out above.
Today also marks the one year anniversary that Disney announced Spider-Man returned to Marvel.
At one time, a Darth Maul video game was in development for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U, which was being developed by Red Fly said to be inspired by the Batman Arkham games.
The game was axed back in 2011; however, it’s learned the developers have been working on the project and want to pitch it to Electronic Arts, which holds the Star Wars video game rights.
A recent Reddit AMA saw Red Fly Studio CEO and owner Dan Borth state he wants to “ressurect” the title, and that they have bee working on a “full, next-gen demo of all things Maul to show to the powers that be.”
The powers that be of course being EA and Disney.
“We have been burning a candle for this game since it was killed in hopes we can get it turned back on again,” Borth said, with mention the game has been a lot of work on their off-time. “IF that is to happen we need to approach EA with a demo that will impress them. I think we have that or are close to it. Still it is completely not up to us.”
While Borth admitted he doesn’t know what his chances are of getting the game made, he did offer it’s a Darth Maul origin story that would lead up to directly before the events of Episode 1 and see players play as a young Maul, aged 9 or 11.
“We wanted to show what he went through to become a Sith. Showcase the torture the Emperor put him through,” he said. “Show how you as the player would have made the same mistakes and ended up a Sith.”
Darth Maul was also previously described as being “insanely powerful and deadly” in the game (via gamespot).
It’s once again being said that Disney may be going with a Star Wars spinoff featuring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, which may even feature Darth Maul.
Back in March of 2013, we first revealed possible details that Disney was considering a Star Wars spinoff with McGregor and Maul.
We were told it could be set between Star Wars Episode III and Episode IV featuring Ewan McGregor reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in his exile on Tatooine, with the villain being Darth Maul who hunts down his nemesis with a possible plot point involving a young Luke Skywalker somehow tied into the story possibly as bait for Obi-Wan.
Now over two years later, Shmoes Know is reporting pretty much the same thing.
A source is theirs is stating conversations are taking place behind close doors that McGregor wil once again “transform into the venerable Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi” – not as a “force ghost, but for a post-Episode III Kenobi.”
It’s also aid Disney wants an Obi-Wan Kenobi trilogy of films, which would be outside the new anthology spinoffs.
Regarding the possible plot of the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, according to the source the: “film (or films) would focus on Obi-Wan’s adventures between the two trilogies as he watches over a maturing Luke Skywalker. The film(s) would be standalone adventure(s), with the possibility of characters like Owen Lars and Darth Maul appearing.”
Previously, our source let us in on a possible storyline for Star Wars Episode VII involving a disciple of Palpatine and the Skywalker/Solo children.
This time, the news is said to involve a Star Wars spin-off movie taking place between Episode III and IV.
Our source notes that the Lucasfilm friend who provided the information said the idea is being tossed around.
• Set between Star Wars Episode III and Episode IV.
• Said to feature Ewan McGregor reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in his exile on Tatooine.
• The villain? Darth Maul hunting down his nemesis with a possible plot point involving a 5-year-old Luke Skywalker somehow tied into the story possibly as bait for Obi-Wan.
Again, our source notes nothing is set in stone and things for the Star Wars spin-offs are obviously in an early stage of development.
Our source previously provided us information on the first news about theMan of Steel spearheading a DC shared universe, the first news about the Justice League 2015 film and Batman 2016 reboot as well as some scenes from both the Green Lantern movie and the new Superman movie, and more.
Star Wars Episode VII has a 2015 release date directed by J.J. Abrams.
