Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow starring Milly Alcock has found its villain who will be played by Matthias Schoenaerts.
The Belgian actor is known for The Regime, Django, Rust and Bone, The Danish Girl, Bullhead, and Red Sparrow.
Matthias Schoenaerts looks to be playing the villain from the comic book series the movie is adapting, Krem of the Yellow Hills.
The comic follows a young alien girl who seeks Supergirl’s help in exacting revenge for the killing of her family. Krem of the Yellow Hills is responsible for killing the alien girl’s family and also injured Krypto, which is how Supergirl comes into play.
Milly Alcock, known for House of the Dragon, is playing the titular character, Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman, who is being played by David Corenswet.
Alcock will also first appear in James Gunn’s Superman, which gets released on July 11, 2025.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow gets released on June 26, 2026 and is being directed by Craig Gillespie and looks to start filming in January in the UK.
The movie will also be different than the recent Supergirl TV series on The CW starring Melissa Benoist.
“We see the difference between Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” said Gunn when the DCU was first announced.
He added, “She’s much more hardcore, she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
