Ross Duffer has revealed the official runtimes for Stranger Things 5 Volume 2, confirming that the final chapter of Netflix’s hit series will end with a feature-length finale.
Volume 2 premieres on December 25, with the series finale arriving on New Year’s Eve.

Stranger Things 5 Volume 2 Episode Runtimes
The second half of the final season includes four episodes, each running well over an hour:
- Chapter Five: “Shock Jock” (Episode 5) – 68 minutes
- Chapter Six: “Escape from Camazotz” (Episode 6) – 75 minutes
- Chapter Seven: “The Bridge” (Episode 7) – 66 minutes
- Chapter Eight: “The Rightside Up” (Episode 8 – Series Finale) – 128 minutes
The finale clocks in at 2 hours and 8 minutes, making it the longest episode in the show’s history.
A Movie-Length Ending for Hawkins
The extended runtime lines up with what the Duffer Brothers have promised: a full-scale conclusion to the Upside Down saga. With Will’s powers emerging, Vecna pushing toward a “new world,” and Hawkins on the brink, the final episode is being positioned as a cinematic sendoff rather than a standard TV finale.
Combined with Volume 1, Stranger Things 5 is effectively ending as a multi-part movie event, with Netflix giving the creators room to resolve every major storyline.
