Star Wars: Ryan Gosling In Talks For Shawn Levy Movie

It’s reported Ryan Gosling is in negotiations to star in the upcoming Star Wars movie from Shawn Levy.

The report comes from THR who can only add that Levy’s movie will be “unconnected to the so-called Skywalker Saga” and that it’s meant to be a standalone movie.

It’s also unknown when Levy’s Star Wars movie is set. The film also doesn’t have an official release date.

THR also says if the deal goes through that Levy’s Star Wars movie will be the next Star Wars movie to go into production following The Mandalorian and Grogu which gets released on May 22, 2026. According to Deadline, it’s hoped the movie goes into production this fall. Levy has been developing the film with writer Jonathan Trooper for the past two years.

Recently saw the news that Disney yanked the Daisy Ridley and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Rey movie from the schedule. While rumor said Disney was putting all their chips in on Daisy Ridley as Rey, I actually said that was complete BS and they would be going with a male character. Enter Gosling.

Back in 2013, Ryan Gosling was actually rumored to play Kylo Ren for J.J. Abrams.

Shawn Levy, of course, recently directed the billion dollar Deadpool & Wolverine at Marvel. Ryan Reynolds recently announce he is reteaming with Levy and Hugh Jackman on a new non-Marvel movie, which sounded like it was Levy’s next gig. However, THR says Gosling’s interest in Star Wars shifted Levy from the new Reynolds movie. I actually wouldn’t doubt if it has more to do with all the drama surrounding Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively.
