In what should come as no surprise, now Disney has yanked the release date for the Daisy Ridley and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars movie.
Disney set a Dec. 18, 2026 release date for a Star Wars movie, and while not officially announced, it was thought to be for the new Daisy Ridley Star Wars flick, said to be titled New Jedi Order.
The trades are playing it off as if the Dec. 18, 2026 release date wasn’t certain for the Ridley Star Wars movie, but as I just went over, the trades are spinning complete BS.
Ice Age 6 now gets that Dec. 18, 2026 release date, which was first announced just last week at the D23 in Brazil (they already knew it was taking the Star Wars release date then).
What is going on with Star Wars?
The news of the release date being dropped also happens to follow the news that Simon Kinberg is developing a new Star Wars Trilogy. Again, not a coincedence.
It’s currently up in the air whether or not Kinberg is going to continue with the Skywalker Saga or go in a new direction.
Shill site Deadline is now reporting that Kinberg is developing the new Star Wars movie with Kathleen Kennedy producing. The site also says Kinberg’s trilogy will comprise Episodes 10-12 of The Skywalker Saga that began with George Lucas’s 1977 first film. Deadline adds Kinberg’s project is brewing alongside percolating Star Wars projects by James Mangold, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Taika Waititi and Donald Glover.
However, shill site THR (the same one that wrote Ridley and Rey is the future of Star Wars) is reporting the Kinberg’s films would involve new characters and will not be a continuation of the previous Skywalker Saga.
I’ve actually been told by insiders when I was at Comic-Con that the Waititi Star Wars movie isn’t happening because of what happened with Thor: Love and Thunder. Interestingly enough, I was also told the Daisy Ridley Star Wars movie was happening at the time.
However, the Ridley Star War movie has lost numerous writers, and as I went over, Ridley was just announced on a new movie that isn’t Star Wars (I also pointed out how the trades made no mention of Star Wars in their reporting).
I’m guessing big changes are coming with Star Wars in the next couple of years as Bob Iger exists Disney officially in 2026. I’m guessing within those two years is when we will finally see Kathleen Kennedy exit Lucasfilm. I am also guessing that in part because of the huge Trump victory that Hollywood will be transitioning away from all the failed woke BS. Cross your fingers.
Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu is still set for a May 22, 2026 release date. Disney also currently has an untitled Star Wars movie set for Dec. 17, 2027 release.
