Daisy Ridley Signs On For New Movie: Not Star Wars

In what is seeming like an all too familiar pattern, the trades announce that Daisy Ridley has signed on to a new movie but nothing is mentioned about Star Wars.

Recently saw the news that Steven Knight exited the Daisy Ridley and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Star Wars movie that is supposed to happen. However, amid rumors Knight was departing, in their reporting about Knight’s Peaky Blinders movie, nothing was mentioned by the trades about him being involved with Disney Star Wars. Then it came out he left.

Now it seems the trades are following suit with Daisy Ridley. It almost seems as if they want people to forget about their involvement in Star Wars?

Variety has announced that Daisy Ridley has signed on to be the lead in a new movie from Martin Campbell but there is no mention of Star Wars. Ridley recently did Cleaner with Campbell.

The report gives a description of the movie and says it is currently being shopped around. There is also no info about when production is supposed to start, but if the Daisy Ridley is still happening, you would think the Martin Campbell flick would have to start filming after Star Wars, so that could be years away. Of course, if the Daisy Ridley is not happening, the Martin Campbell film might be happening a lot sooner.

Worth a mention is that Bob Iger is confirmed to be departing Disney in 2026, so maybe with that will be a big shift in Star Wars content. It could also mean Kathleen Kennedy might finally be shown the door with Iger.

Here is the description for the new Daisy Ridley and Martin Campbell movie:

“Dedication” follows Major Billie Jean Parker (Ridley), a decorated Marine Corps commander who is relieved of duty after a high-stakes mission in the Philippines results in civilian casualties, despite capturing anarchist leader Omar Romatas. Facing the loss of her career, she visits her dying father, Clyde, a former Marine, who asks her to attend a dedication ceremony for a school building named in his honor. The event takes a deadly turn when Omar Romatas’s vengeful son, Bento, launches an assault, taking hostages. Forced back into combat, Billie Jean sets traps and executes precise strikes to outwit the attackers. Her tactical instincts and ruthless efficiency shift the fight, as she confronts her past and proves her worth in a relentless battle that will define her legacy.
