Episode III is coming back to the big screen for a limited one-week run, including its first-ever 4DX release.
Theatrical Re-Release Details
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith will return to theaters on April 25, 2025, marking the 20th anniversary of the film’s debut. The re-release will run for one week in select theaters across the U.S. and international markets.
For the first time, fans can experience Episode III in 4DX, a format that integrates motion-synchronized seats with more than 21 effects, including wind, water, and environmental elements. This upgrade adds a new dimension to key moments, from the space battle over Coruscant to the duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar.

New Poster Art by Matt Ferguson
Graphic artist Matt Ferguson designed exclusive poster art for the anniversary event. The artwork features Darth Vader’s mask looming over Anakin Skywalker, symbolizing his transformation into the Sith Lord. The design also highlights the lightsaber battle between Anakin and Obi-Wan, along with warships above Coruscant and the burning Jedi Temple.
Ferguson described this piece as his most complex Star Wars poster to date, citing the high level of detail in the battle sequences and explosions.
“The space battle and Mustafar elements are all really complicated, with way more ships and explosions than on my other Star Wars posters,” Ferguson told StarWars.com. “It’s the movie where it all really unravels for Anakin.”
The Story of Revenge of the Sith
Set years after the start of the Clone Wars, Revenge of the Sith follows the downfall of the Jedi and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The Jedi, once guardians of peace, have become military leaders in a war against the Separatists. Meanwhile, the Sith execute a long-planned scheme to seize control of the galaxy.
At the center of it all, Anakin Skywalker succumbs to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader and carrying out Emperor Palpatine’s command to destroy the Jedi. As the Republic collapses, survivors like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda are forced into exile.
Cast and Crew
The film stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ian McDiarmid, and Samuel L. Jackson, with Frank Oz returning as the voice of Yoda. Christopher Lee, Jimmy Smits, and Anthony Daniels also reprise their roles.
Written and directed by George Lucas, Revenge of the Sith remains one of the most defining chapters in the Star Wars saga. Fans now have a chance to experience it again in theaters, with enhanced visuals and an immersive 4DX option.
