James Gunn’s Superman can now claim the title of king of the summer box office — at least domestically.
With grosses sitting at $351,748,613 in the U.S., it’s the top earner of the season, beating out Jurassic World: Rebirth and Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
Superman Box Office Numbers
The latest numbers for Gunn’s Superman after 53 days in theaters are:
- Domestic (57.5%): $351,748,613
- International (42.5%): $259,700,000
- Worldwide: $611,448,613
That puts Superman ahead of Jurassic World: Rebirth domestically ($338,265,615) even though the dinosaurs stomped Gunn worldwide with $855.5M.
Another Win Over Marvel
Gunn also gets bragging rights over Marvel, as Superman easily beat Fantastic Four, which only managed $265,826,180 domestically and only this weekend pass $500M worldwide.
It’s a rare DCU victory at a time when both Marvel and DC are struggling to replicate past success, but does possibly signal a change could be coming, assuming Gunn can continue to deliver.
Gunn’s flick also smashes both Thunderbolts and Captain America: Brave New World.
#3 Domestic Movie of 2025
Superman now sits as the #3 domestic movie of 2025, only behind Minecraft ($423,949,195) and Lilo & Stitch ($421,706,354).
Weak International Numbers
Despite the domestic success, the international audience didn’t show up in the same way.
With only $259.7M from overseas markets, Gunn left a lot on the table compared to other blockbusters. If the foreign gross had been stronger, Superman might have been in real competition at the worldwide box office.

Still Short of The Batman and Man of Steel
Even with the domestic crown, Superman won’t come close to either Matt Reeves’ The Batman or Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel.
- The Batman: $772,245,583 worldwide
- Man of Steel: $670,145,518 worldwide
Gunn’s Superman should finish somewhere in the low $600Ms, which is good enough for a domestic summer win but not enough to silence the comparisons to Reeves and Snyder.
