Sony is developing a Spider-Punk animated movie as part of its Spider-Man multiverse lineup. Daniel Kaluuya, who voiced the character in Across the Spider-Verse, is co-writing the project with Primetime creator Ajon Singh.
Kaluuya Likely Returning as Spider-Punk
Plot details are under wraps, but it’s expected Kaluuya will return as Hobie Brown, the punk-rock version of Spider-Man (via Deadline). He voiced the character in 2023’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and will be back again for Beyond the Spider-Verse, slated for 2027.

Part of Sony’s Expanding Spider-Verse
The Spider-Punk movie follows Sony’s push into expanding its animated and live-action Spider-Man properties. Alongside Spider-Man 4 and Beyond the Spider-Verse, Sony is also working on Spider-Noir, a Nicolas Cage-led series for MGM+, premiering next year.
Amy Pascal joins producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller on Spider-Punk, continuing their collaboration from the Spider-Verse trilogy.

Comic Book Origin of Spider-Punk
Spider-Punk, aka Hobie Brown, was created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel and debuted in The Amazing Spider-Man #10 (2015). He hails from Earth-138 and fights authoritarian systems with an anarchist edge, setting him apart from Peter Parker’s version of Spider-Man.

Sony Keeps Focus on Spider-Man Core
As we previously reported, Sony has paused its broader Spider-Man spinoff universe, including canceling a planned Knull movie.
Instead, the studio is focusing its efforts on more successful “Spider-Man” projects — animated films, multiverse stories, and the next Tom Holland movie, Brand New Day, which is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
