Spider-Man Will Be More Fun To Discover In Captain America: Civil War

We’ve only seen a glimpse of Spider-Man in the Captain America: Civil War trailer (watch below). Honestly, hopefully that is all Marvel reveals as even director Joe Russo admits the best is yet to come.

“He’s certainly a character that’s more fun for people to discover when they go see the movie,” Joe Russo told Total Film Magazine. “He was my favorite character growing up. I have an incredible amount of passion for Spider-Man.”

Russo also comments on the Spider-Man costume, but it’s a mystery whether or not this is the version Tony Stark may have made and given to Peter, and offers the following on casting 19-year-old Tom Holland.

“It was very important for us to execute an interpretation of the character that was loyal to how I felt about him as an 11-year-old,” Russo offered. “So we were very dedicated to casting an actor very close in age to the age of the character. And also, an actor with that youthful spirit and insecurity that comes with being that age and having that kind of power.”

Following Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland will be featured in the standalone Spider-Man movie in 2017. Kevin Feige recently confirmed other Marvel characters will cross over.

“Captain America: Civil War” has  a May 6, 2016 release date directed by Anthony and Joe Russo starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Paul Bettany, Don Cheadle, Emily VanCamp, William Hurt, Martin Freeman and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

Synopsis:

Captain America: Civil War picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.
