Spider-Man Trilogy Returning to Theaters with 4K Spider-Man 2.1 Cut

The original Spider-Man trilogy is coming back to theaters this fall, as Fathom Entertainment partners with Sony Pictures for a limited re-release.

The event includes all three Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire — and notably features the first-ever theatrical release of the Spider-Man 2.1 extended cut in 4K.

Screening Schedule and Ticket Info

The trilogy will screen across two weekends:

  • Spider-Man (2002): Sept. 26 and Oct. 3
  • Spider-Man 2.1 (2004): Sept. 27 and Oct. 4
  • Spider-Man 3 (2007): Sept. 28 and Oct. 5

Tickets go on sale July 25 through Fathom Entertainment and participating theater box offices.

What’s New

The highlight is Spider-Man 2.1, a version of Spider-Man 2 that adds eight minutes of extended and deleted scenes. This cut has existed on home video but has never been released theatrically until now.

Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt commented that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man remains a fan favorite and credited the 2002 film with helping to launch the modern superhero genre.

“The success of Spider-Man in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire’s take on Spider-Man resonates across generations,” said Ray Nutt, chief executive officer of Fathom Entertainment. “At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that Spider-Man 2.1 in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.”

Why It Matters

The trilogy previously screened in select theaters in 2024 as part of a broader Spider-Man re-release across Sony’s live-action catalog. This new engagement puts the focus squarely on Raimi’s trilogy and includes the first time fans can watch Spider-Man 2.1 on the big screen.

The re-release is part of Fathom’s “Fan Favorites” series, which recently brought Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Clueless back to theaters, with more films planned through the year.
