Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Flop Getting Nationwide Re-Release

Rachel Zegler’s ‘Snow White’ Flop Getting Nationwide Re-Release

Despite bombing big time at the box office and following Disney officially confirming Snow White failed, the Rachel Zegler flick is said to be getting a theatrical re-release in over 1200 theaters this weekend.

Snow White was thought to be ending its domestic run soon, where it is currently only playing in 310 theaters, but reports are coming in that Disney is re-releasing Snow White in over 1200 theaters domestically.

Snow White has only made $86.4M domestically, $116.3M internationally, and $202.8M worldwide. Its budget is reported to be well over $300M, which is guessed to have lost Disney at least $100M.

Update: Snow White played in 1330 theaters this weekend and bombed hard – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – bringing in $335k.

Disney confirms Snow White a big bust

On Wednesday, Disney released its quarterly investor report and named Snow White, along with Marvel’s Captain America: Brave New World, as official flops.

Thunderbolts - New Avengers Posts Fourth-Lowest Friday Box Office In MCU History

What about Marvel’s Thunderbolts?

Interestingly enough, it follows Marvel’s Thunderbolts bombing, which is only in its second weekend this week, also from Disney.

We can guess it could be possible that just like The Marvels, Disney knows that Thunderbolts isn’t getting the female audience it has been targeting with Florence Pugh starring as Yelena and the marketing surrounding the actress and character.

So Disney has decided to re-release Snow White, hoping for girls to show up who previously didn’t. It also lines up with Mother’s Day weekend.

'Revenge of the Sith' Tops Box Office as Star Wars Fans Pack Theaters

Should have kept Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith around

What is also interesting is that Disney yanked the re-release of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith prior to Star Wars Day on May 4th, thought to be because of Thunderbolts, which Marvel has since rebranded to New Avengers.

The re-release of the 20th anniversary actually did well with over $55M worldwide and $34.1M domestically. Maybe Disney should reconsider and keep Star Wars in theaters.
