Simon Kinberg Rebooting Star Trek

X-Men producer Simon Kinberg is in talks to reboot the Star Trek franchise at Paramount to boldly go hundreds of years before the Abrams movies to where it all started.

The new Star Trek movie has already been underway with Andor director Toby Haynes, and Seth Grahame-Smith is writing the script who wrote The Lego Batman Movie, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Dark Shadows.

What is the new Star Trek movie about?

Details for the new Star Trek movie include that it will likely be set in modern times and is said to involve the creation of the Starfleet and humankind’s first contact with alien life (via THR).

J.J. Abrams is still involved as a producer, and it’s further said Paramount still wants to do one more movie with Abram’s cast that includes Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg, and others, which will be the final chapter.

Simon Kinberg is known for Apple’s Invasion series, the recent Twilight Zone, Star Wars Rebels, The Martian, and among his X-Men credits includes Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Deadpool, and Days of Future Past. Kinberg also executive produced Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
