Adam McKay Wants To Do A Silver Surfer Movie

Following it learned Marvel approached Adam McKay to direct Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and Inhumans, now McKay offers he wants Silver Surfer.

Adam McKay, who also wrote the script for Ant-Man, fills inĀ theĀ Happy Sad ConfusedĀ podcast the following:

Silver Surfer man, that’s the one I want to do. I would do anything to do Silver Surfer, because visually that would be just be…You could do what the Wachowskis did with Speed Racer, with the Silver Surfer. At the same time, there’s a great emotional story in there man. Where a guy has to make the choice to save his planet…you know Norrin Radd has to save his planet…that, that would be the one.

With Disney set to purchase Fox Studios next Spring, Silver Surfer will now be a part of the MCU, so maybe McKay will get his wish.

A while back it became known that Marvel wanted to use both Silver Surfer and Galactus, butĀ the characters were at Fox Studios. It was said Marvel wanted to trade the Daredevil rights to Fox for the cosmic characters, but reportedly, Fox turned down the offer. The Daredevil rights were expiring at Fox, so Marvel was going to let Fox keep Daredevil in exchange for Silver Surfer and Galactus, but it never happened.

A rumor then surfaced they were going to be used for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie (Gunn hasĀ said he would have liked to use Surfer), and the most recent rumor from July offered that Silver Surfer and Galactus are in active development at Marvel Studios (Surfer has even been rumored for Infinity War movies as well).

Hopefully, now that the Fantastic Four will be back at Marvel, Kevin Feige introduces Surfer and Galactus alongside them.

Silver Surfer was most recently played by Doug Jones in the 2007 FF movie.
