Dan Trachtenberg Hints at Alien vs. Predator? Says New Films Make Universe 'So Much Bigger'

As Predator: Killer of Killers lands on Hulu June 6, director Dan Trachtenberg may have just dropped a major hint about where things are headed, and it could involve Aliens vs. Predator.

“So Much Bigger”

During a Reddit AMA, Trachtenberg, who directs Predator: Killer of Killers and the upcoming Badlands and previously Prey, responded to a fan concerned that the Predator franchise might feel too small if it keeps revisiting Earth:

“Both Killer of Killers and Badlands make that universe SO MUCH bigger.”

While the remark could actually mean a lot of things, recently saw that big rumor that both Killer of Killers and Badlands could be laying the groundwork for a full-on Aliens vs. Predator reboot. You can read our breakdown of the new AVP here ➤

A Predator as the Main Character?

In a separate AMA response, Trachtenberg explained why Predator: Badlands, due out November 7, centers the story on a Predator instead of a human:

“Sooo many sci-fi films feature creatures and alien races as the sidekicks or villains… I just thought how cool it would be to see a movie where the creature was the MAIN character.”

He continued:

“What if a Predator was Arnold this time? What if he’s the ‘David’ on a planet full of ‘Goliaths’? Would anyone let me make something this crazy? Turns out—yes!”

With Killer of Killers releasing tomorrow and Badlands set for the fall, it looks like the Predator franchise is evolving fast and possibly heading toward another brutal clash with the Xenomorphs, which would be wild.

Alien: Earth, which just dropped a full trailer, also debuts its eight-episode season on Tuesday, August 12. Today also saw the big news that the Alien: Romulus sequel starts filming this year.
