No MODOK For Captain America 2; Not Peter Dinklage, Either

It looks as if we can rule out MODOK for Captain America 2 as the screenwriters on the movie all but said so.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFreely recently spoke to the Nerdist and mentioned they are always trying to sneak in their favorite villains, but it would have been difficult with the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing.

“No, there are the favorites I’m always trying to wedge in, but the problem is you can’t wedge in a giant, flying head,” Markus said. “It’s not like MODOK can pop up in one scene. But, I think you’ve seen in the casting announcements that a couple a snuck in.”

And if you thought maybe MODOK could be picked up by another movie studio, like Fox for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the Nerdist comments that they hope Peter Dinklage plays George Tarleton; however, FOX doesn’t apparently own the rights to the character.

“There’s a rights issue there, somehow,” Markus said.

MODOK did appear in a few X-Men comics early on, but is primarily thought of as a Captain America villain.

The Russo Bros. are directing Captain America: The Winter Soldier which has an April 4th, 2014 release date and stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford.

Synopsis:

Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where “Marvel’s The Avengers” left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.
