Principal Weems Returns as Wednesday’s Spirit Guide

Last seen dying from poison at the hands of Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) in Season 1, Weems reappears in the new trailer — but not among the living. Instead, she’s back as Wednesday’s spirit guide, offering supernatural counsel after Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) wakes from a coma following the Part 1 finale.

Enid (Emma Myers) can’t see Weems, who reveals herself only to Wednesday, guiding her as she faces Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), glitching powers, and her mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) on campus.

Co-creators Miles Millar and Alfred Gough say they always planned to bring Christie back, with Millar calling the Wednesday–Weems relationship a fan favorite. Gough told Netflix’s Tudum, “Nobody in our world is truly dead dead.”

Christie on Playing a Different Weems

Christie describes this version of Weems as ethereal and more vulnerable. Her Season 2 wardrobe, designed by Colleen Atwood, shifts from Hitchcock’s The Birds inspiration to Vertigo, with softer tones, refined hair, and no signature red lipstick — a reflection of the sorrow and mystery tied to her ghostly state.

Season 2 Release Schedule

  • Part 1: Four episodes streaming now on Netflix
  • Part 2: Premieres September 3 with four new episodes

The trailer teases more supernatural intrigue as Wednesday’s fight against unseen threats continues — now with guidance from beyond the grave.
