Marvel Studios Rumored To Cancel Inhumans Movie Because Of TV

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22409:]]

Following the news of the Marvel Phase 3 updates, it’s now being rumored that Marvel Studios is dropping the Inhumans movie.

According to Bleeding Cool, Marvel Studios is going to cancel Inhumans, which is a result of Marvel Studios getting away from Marvel TV and eccentric Marvel billionaire Ike Perlmutter.

An apparent war has broken out between the two Marvel divisions, with both sides rumored to be blaming each other for the “disappointment” of Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

The report states Marvel TV and Perlmutter were most pushing for Inhumans because of Agents Of SHIELD, which introduced the characters.

Kevin Feige has been reported to have dropped the Marvel Creative Committee, which is made up of Joe Quesada, Brian Bendis and Dan Buckley, all of whom are heavily involved with Marvel TV and animation. You will note the Bendis created-characters (Skye, Jessica Jones) and Quesada’s favorites (Daredevil) are headlining Marvel TV.

Honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised by the news (and even thought they might cancel Inhumans myself) as Marvel TV and animation (and comics) are nowhere near as good in quality as the movies. I also didn’t think the Inhumans would make for a good film adaptation (especially following the lackluster Agents Of SHIELD).

Batman Vs. Superman LexCorp Teaser Unlocked at NYCC

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22395:]]

Updated: with LexCorp promo below.

Cosmic Book News just arrived at the New York Comic-Con where we proceeded to the LexCorp booth.

The booth has on display the Batman Vs. Superman costumes, Batman gadgets, action figures and off the various trailers including Batman Vs. Superman and Suicide Squad.

Yesterday saw the news hit that LexCorp will be providing free WIFI for NYCC attendees.

When I connected to the LexCorps WIFI it took me to a login page where I had to enter my e-mail. It then forwarded me to a LexCorp teaser on YouTube.

The bad news is I was only able to connect on my iPhone and unable to get the link to the trailer. I did manage to grab a couple of screen shots.

WB did just launch a LexCorp YouTube channel and the Lex Luthor official Twitter account did tweet out a second tweet: “Where will you be when the future begins? #LexCorp Oct 8-11.” The YouTube channel presently has no videos listed, so I am assuming the LexCorps teaser/promo is presently unlisted.

We’re also unable to connect to the LexCorps WIFI through our laptops, so we’re presently unable to grab the teaser that way. (Note: The LExCorps WiFi may only work around the booth.)

Watch: Neil deGrasse Tyson Explains Batman Vs Superman

Renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is back once again choosing Superman over Batman.

Tyson previously said “Batman is just a guy with a nice belt,” and now says more of the same in that Batman wouldn’t stand a chance in a cage fight versus Superman.

Tyson also goes on to make a point that we all know Batman is human while Superman is Superman.

“Superman would wipe his butt with Batman,” Tyson offers. “That’s basically what would happen there.”

Tyson then goes on to say a better fight would be Batman Vs. Iron Man as they are both human.

The astrophysicist does say that Batman does stand a chance against Superman, just not in a physical confrontation. Batman would need to go a different avenue, such as in the court of public opinion (or even one that of the government).

Danny DeVito Tried Out For The Voice Of Rocket Raccoon

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22382:]]

Yesterday saw James Gunn take part in a live Facebook Q&A where he spoke about a variety of topics with one including the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy.

While we all known Bradley Cooper ended up getting the part, Gunn let it be known they actually considered using Danny DeVito, but decided against it because of DeVito’s age.

“In all honesty, Danny DeVito is one of the voices we tried out, but Danny DeVito is an older man now and Rocket is not an older man, he’s a younger man,” Gunn explained. “Danny DeVito’s voice just wouldn’t work.”

Gunn also let it be known that Thanos was the villain in the original Guardians of the Galaxy script, and also that he isn’t a big fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy animated sound track.

James Gunn Will Be Able To Use The Sneepers In Guardians of the Galaxy 2

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22083:]]

A couple of weeks ago saw James Gunn post on his Facebook page that he was unable to use the alien race known as the Sneepers in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 because of a conflict with Iceland.

It turned out “Sneeper,” when translated to Icelandic, is a word for a female body part.

Marvel legal actually had issue with it and initially didn’t approve “Sneeper” because of the conflict.

However, now because of all the online chatter – as it’s not really that big of a deal – Marvel Legal has changed their mind and allowed Gunn use of the Sneeper for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, so per Gunn’s words below, we’ll see at least one Sneeper somehwhere in the background.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” Vol. 2 hits May 5, 2017.

Terminator Will Be Back

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22381:]]

In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, yes, Teminator will… be back.

A few days ago saw word hit that the Terminator universe, which included a planned TV series, had been put on hold indefinitely due to the lackluster performance of Terminator: Genisys, which only netted $90 million in the U.S.

However, now it’s learned the producers of the Terminator will continue the franchise.

“Do we intend to have a next step of Terminator? Yes, we do,” Skydance chief creative officer Dana Goldberg said at TheWrap’s 6th Annual Media Leadership Conference. “I wouldn’t say [Terminator is] on hold, so much as re-adjusting.”

Goldberg also continued with confirmation that a Terminator TV series still looks to be a part of those plans.

“At Skydance, when we talk movies, we talk universes, even more than franchises,” Goldberg said. “So the idea of a Terminator TV show fits into that universe. All the steps have to be taken in unison.”

While Terminator didn’t do all that well domestically, what ended up saving the franchise was its international audience as Genisys grossed $350 million in foreign markets.

“Happily, we live in the world where the domestic number had a level of importance 10 or 15 years ago — I’m not saying it’s not important, it is — but we have to play to a worldwide market,” Goldberg said. “In terms of Terminator, the worldwide market paid attention, but we’re not taking the domestic number lightly.”

It’s also learned that the producers of Terminator will connect with the fans to figure out how to better serve up Skynet and the time-travelling cyborgs in future platforms.

“[We will use] data and research to do a worldwide study and really talk to audiences about what they loved, and what maybe didn’t work for them, so that the next we take with the franchise is the right one.”

Thanos Was The Villain In Original Guardians of the Galaxy Script

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22377:]]

First Richard Rider Nova, and now Thanos.

James Gunn, you are killing us.

It’s learned that Thanos was actually the villain of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie prior to James Gunn getting on board.

Back around 2009, Marvel had a Writers Group that could basically come up with whatever script they wanted, with science-fiction writer Nicole Perlman choosing Guardians of the Galaxy, as she was impressed and inspired by the Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel comic book.

When the movie finally was green lit and Gunn came on board, he re-wrote the script to his liking and in the process removed Richard Rider Nova because he wanted to keep the focus on Star-Lord being the human relatable character of the movie.

Now while participating in a video Q&A on Facebook, Gunn clears up some things regarding the involvement of Thanos revealing at one point the Mad Titan was the big bad . First, Gunn lets it be known he didn’t have to go back and do re-writes on Guardians and add in Thanos as Thanos was already a part of the script.

“That’s just totally not all all true,” Gunn replied to questioning regarding having to go back and add Thanos to the script. “When I came to Guardians there was a script, and Thanos was actually the bad guy in it the movie. I changed the script so that Ronan was the bad guy. Thanos became a part of that script.”

Gunn also let it be known they were contemplating removing Thanos in his entirety as they found it difficult to incorporate the Mad Titan with the rest of the story, but Gunn wanted to keep Thanos because of his appearance in Whedon’s The Avengers.

“There was a time later when we realized it was very difficult working Thanos into the script, but I wanted to keep him in the movie because I knew that people who liked Avengers would maybe be likely to see Guardians, which nobody knew Thanos was in the movie,” Gunn continued. “So I kept him in there. He was a pain in the ass to put in the movie because of his connection and family relationship to Ronan and Gamora and Nebula.”

Gunn also finished his Thanos thoughts with a rather interesting remark which seems to insinuate those people that wanted to cut Thanos from the movie might not be at Marvel any more.

“There was a group of people at Marvel who had a lot of ideas how things were suppose to be that aren’t there any more,” Gunn said.

Possibly No Major Batman Announcement Coming At NYCC

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22364:]]

Possible bad news, Bat-fans.

While Batman Vs. Superman is confirmed to have a presence on the floor of the New York Comic-Con with a LexCorp booth, the speculated “major announcement” teased by producer Michael Uslan from a few days ago may not actually be Batman-related.

Michael Uslan, who has been a producer on every Batman movie, told USA Today last Friday that a major announcement is coming at the NYCC on Saturday at 1:45pm.

As DC is holding a Batman panel around the same time, many online (us included) speculated the announcement to possibly be related to the rumored Ben Affleck solo Batman movie.

However, now it’s learned Michael Uslan is actually a part of a THUNDER Agents panel that takes place Saturday at 1:45pm.

Of course, it’s always possible something Batman Vs. Superman could still be announced at the DC Batman panel, with Uslan simply not being in attendance.

Here is the official info sent out by WB regarding THUNDER Agents:

Batman Vs. Superman Confirmed For NYCC; LexCorp Providing WiFi

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22359:]]

Batman Vs. Superman has been confirmed to be in attendance at this week’s New York Comic-Con.

Just yesterday saw Warner Bros. kick off the Lex Luthor viral marketing campaign with a new Jesse Eisenberg image, Lex Luthor Twitter account and Lex Luthor “interview.”

Now it’s learned LexCorps will be in attendance at the NYCC.

The official NYCC floor plan map has LexCorp as booth “SC02” which is directly attached to the DC Entertainment booth “SC01.” The NYCC also has a listing for LexCorp, but doesn’t have a description. We can speculate LexCorp employees might be at the booth possibly giving away Batman Vs. Superman promotional gear.

Producer Michael Uslan is also speculated to be making a Batman movie announcement as Uslan teased a major announcement for the convention on Saturday.

Update: The official NYCC website also states LexCorps will be providing free WiFi:

Yes. Free WiFi throughout the Javits Center will be provided by LexCorp Industries.

LexCorp unites humanity through technology. We believe in technology as a means of communication, unification and a source of inspiration. To access the WiFi on-site at the Javits Center, connect to the “LexCorp” network from the list of available networks.

You will automatically be redirected to the LexCorp WiFi login page where you can enter your email address and click “CONNECT” to gain access to the network. LexCorp – together, we can build a better world.

Jared Leto Asked Grant Morrison For Joker Advice

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:22340:]]

Yesterday saw Will Smith reveal Jared Leto stayed in character as the Joker for the six months of Suicide Squad filming, and now it’s learned Leto went to DC Comics writer Grant Morrison for advice.

In an interiew with Comic Heroes magazine, Morrison said Leto gave him a call about the Joker.

“It looks quite interesting.” Morrison said about Suicide Squad. “[Jared Leto] called me to talk about his approach to the character and I steered him in a few directions. I’m keen to see if anything other than slicked back hair and the Marilyn Manson vibe made it into his performance.”

Morrison also offered his take on the current superhero movies offering he would like to see them take more chances.

“I don’t think I’ve seen any great ones for a while. Age of Ultron was solid but naturally not quite the gamechanger the first Avengers was. We’re all familiar with the meat and potatoes superhero stuff, so I think it’s time they made Miracleman, Enigma, Flex Mentallo or something else that’s a bit more challenging.”

Suicide Squad” has an August 5, 2016 release date directed by David Ayer starring Will Smith as Deadshot, Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Adam Beach as Slipknot, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, and Scott Eastwood in an unknown role.
