A sequel to A Minecraft Movie is reportedly moving ahead quickly.

According to Page Six, Minecraft 2 is on track to begin filming May 1 in New Zealand.

The sequel follows the massive success of the first movie, which has become one of the biggest video game adaptations ever released.

A Minecraft Movie currently sits at #5 on the worldwide box office charts with nearly $1 billion globally and is #1 on the domestic charts.

Jason Momoa And Jack Black Returning

The sequel is expected to bring back the stars of the first movie.

IMDb lists Jason Momoa and Jack Black as returning for Minecraft 2, though full casting details have not yet been officially announced.

The original film featured Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison and Jack Black as Steve, one of the most recognizable characters from the Minecraft franchise.

More casting announcements are expected as production gets closer.
