Sons Of Anarchy’s Theo Rossi Cast For Luke Cage

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21945:]]

It’s learned Theo Rossi, known for playing Juice in Son’s Of Anarchy, has joined the Marvel Netflix series Luke Cage.

Deadline reports Rossi will be a series regular opposite Mike Colter as Luke Cage with the role said to be relentless and menacing, smooth and manipulative, street smart and controlling. It’s said Rossi will be playing Luke Cage’s enemy Shades aka Alvarez, a well known criminal.

It’s further reported Rosario Dawson will reprise her Claire Temple role in Luke Cage as well. As noted, Temple is a love interest to Cage in the comics, and Dawson is slated to appear in Jessica Jones prior to Luke Cage.

It was reported a while back that Alfre Woodward will be playing the Marvel Comics villain Black Mariah.

Update: It’s also reported Simone Missick has been cast as Misty Knight described as a woman having a strong sense of justice. In the comics, Mistky Knight is a former NYPD officer who gets a new bionic arm by Tony Stark after losing hers in the line of duty. She eventually launches a detective agency, helping Cage.

In related news, a Sons Of Anarchy spinoff is in development.

Bendis, Quesada & Creative Committee Booted From Marvel Studios

I’m lovin’ Kevin Feige more and more…

It was recently reported by THR that Kevin Feige had moved Marvel Studios away from the creative control of Marvel CEO billionaire Ike Perlmutter, who has been said to be responsible for a host of problems.

Now it’s being said Feige has apparently gotten rid of the Marvel Creative Committee that was made up of Marvel Comics executives and writers such as comic scribe Brian Michael Bendis, Dan Buckley, publisher of Marvel Comics, and Joe Quesada, former editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics and the current Chief Creative Officer of Marvel.

According to BirthMoviesDeath, similar to Perlmutter, the Creative Committee caused frustration amongst the Marvel movies with an example given of Edgar Wright and Ant-Man. It’s noted the Committee was often late with their suggestions, with it said filmmakers considered them to be a pain to deal with.

It’s also stated the Marvel Committee may continue on with Marvel TV, which stays under Perlmutter (as does the comics, unfortunately), with it also suggested the Committee may be completely finished altogether. If indeed the Committee does stay with Marvel TV, this further exemplifies my thoughts that Feige wants to move Marvel Studios away from the lackluster attempts from Marvel TV and Jeph Loeb, which includes the animated series and ABC shows (Netflix series are under Marvel TV as well, but honestly I wasn’t impressed with Daredevil at all, and up next is Bendis’ Jessica Jones).

The report also makes mention following Captain America: Civil War and most likely Doctor Strange, Marvel’s Phase 3 should be off to smooth sailing as Perlmutter and the Marvel Creative Committee will not be involved. It’s even possible we may finally get more Black Widow merchandise, as it’s noted (and known through leaked e-mails) that Perlmutter was behind not supporting female characters.

I’ll also add in Brian Bendis took over the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning when news of the movie getting green lit became known. Marvel Comics fired Abnett and Lanning off of the book when they knew the movie was getting made. I’ve even been told by somebody who worked at Marvel that Bendis didn’t like all the fan attention DnA were getting from their Cosmic line. Kudos to Kevin Feige and James Gunn for crediting DnA for inspiring the billion dollar Disney franchise. We also can’t forget that Jeph Loeb had a hand in cancelling DnA’s Marvel Cosmic line (as well as Axel Alonso, Tom Brevoort and Stephen Wacker) as the 2007 Richard Rider Nova series was cancelled with Loeb launching a new character under the name, which has consistently sold less than the Abnett and Lanning version.

Kevin Feige Breaks Free Of Marvel’s Ike Perlmutter & Marvel TV

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21912:]]

We get some very good news regarding the future of Marvel Studios in that it’s being reported Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige will no longer have to report directly to Marvel CEO billionaire Ike Perlmutter.

THR reports that Feige will now report to Disney chairman Alan Horn.

It’s said following “several years of frustration,” Feige recently “vented his unhappiness to Horn and Disney CEO Bob Iger earlier this summer.”

Regarding the frustration, there have been numerous reports that Perlmutter has been stingy with the cast of the Marvel movies, with most notably Robert Downey Jr. It was once reported that Perlmutter wanted Robert Downey Jr. written out of Captain America: Civil War; however, it was said Feige smoothed things over. A while back there was also reports that Perlmutter was responsible for tensions between Marvel and the cast of the Avengers, with Robert Downey Jr. backing his fellow Assemblers in getting them re-signed and paid what they were owed.

Perlmutter also seemed to be the one holding up Marvel Studios from creating standalone female movies as leaked e-mails revealed he felt they wouldn’t work.

Perlmutter is also said to be behind the tensions between Marvel and Fox Studios, as the eccentric billionaire ordered no merchandise to be developed for the various Fox-licensed movies (Marvel owns merchandise rights) with X-Men and Fantastic Four and also cancelled their respective comic books. With Perlmutter now out of the Marvel Studios equation, those earlier Avengers X-Men movie rumors are now rather interesting.

The report also makes mention that Marvel TV will still report to Perlmutter. That’s rather interesting as, at least  in my opinion, everything Marvel TV has recently done under Jeph Loeb has been rather horrible, which includes cancelling the popular Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes cartoon for Avengers Assemble, relaunching the goofy Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, and the lackluster attempts at the ABC shows with Agents Of SHIELD and Agent Carter. With Loeb reporting to Perlmutter and Feige reporting to Horn, we see there appears to be some distance and a gap created between the movies and TV, which is a good thing considering TV’s poor attempts at the Marvel brand (again, in my opinion).

A Disney spokesperson released the following statement:

“Marvel Studios is taking the next logical step in its integration with The Walt Disney Studios, joining Pixar and Lucasfilm in centralizing many of its film-related functions in Burbank, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and co-president;Louis D’Esposito continuing to lead the Marvel Studios team reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn.”

According to the article, an insider says “Feige has earned the opportunity to break free from Perlmutter, who is not only controlling, but also obsessed with thrift.”

“Everybody knows Ike is difficult,” the source said. “This has been a long time coming. Kevin has grown his entire career under Ike and now it just makes sense.”

Sorry comic fans, but it’s also stated in addition to Marvel TV, Perlmutter will “maintain oversight of publishing, animation and other New York-based operations.”

Luke Cage Netflix Series May Have Found Its Villain

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21803:]]

It’s being reported that the Marvel Luke Cage Netflix series starring Mike Colter may have found its villain.

Deadline is reporting Alfre Woodward is finalizing a deal to star opposite Colter in what may be a version of the Marvel Comics villain Black Mariah.

Woodward’s character in the Luke Cage Netflix series is described as a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life, named Minetta.

In the comics, Black Mariah is a villain to both Iron Fist and Luke Cage and a leader of a gang and drug dealer.

Alfre Woodard is known for The Last Ship, State of Affairs, True Blood, Desperate Housewives and St. Elsewhere.

Mike Colter will first be seen as Luke Cage in the Jessica Jones series, which is due out later this year.

ABC Orders Adrianne Palicki “Marvel’s Most Wanted” Pilot

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21800:]]

Following reports from a few months ago that ABC initially passed on an Adrianne Palicki Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD spinoff series, it’s now being said ABC has given it the green light.

Variety reports ABC has ordered a pilot for Marvel’s Most Wanted which will focus on Palicki’s Mockingbird character and Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter.

The series is said not to be a strict spin-off, but “rather an entirely new project solely focused on the two characters to continue their story.”

Plot details are presently unknown, but Marvel’s Most Wanted is said to follow Mockingbird and Blood and their adventures together.

The report makes note ABC has not made any decisions regarding the premiere date for Marvel’s Most Wanted or how they will introduce the series (i.e through an episode of Agents Of SHIELD).

Marvel presently has Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 3, Agent Carter Season 2 and a John Ridley “top secret” series in development as well.

Wesley Snipes Teases New Character Who Can Take On Blade

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21693:]]

Back at last month’s Comic-Con saw Wesley Snipes tease a return to Marvel with possibly a Netflix series.

Blade stated he has another project possibly in the works “that’s going to rock’em,” and now we hear more from Snipes who further teased the project at the SDCC.

Snipes spoke with CBR at Comic-Con, who finally published the interview, with Snipes mentioning if he doesn’t do another Blade, there is another character he may go with.

Well, we’ve had some discussions. We have had very positive and favorable discussions about the Blade character and other things they have in mind. We’ll see where it goes. For those Blade fans, if we never reprise Blade, I have another character that will stand toe to toe with Blade any day. It’s not done yet.

It should be noted that both times Snipes doesn’t specifically refer to the character as being a part of Marvel, just that the character can go “toe to toe” with Blade.

Is it possible Wesley Snipes is up for a DC role in their new Expanded Universe?

Or is Snipes in talks for another Marvel role? Any ideas who?

Ronda Rousey Wants To Play Captain Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21677:]]

Marvel has yet to cast Carol Danvers for the Ms. Captain Marvel movie, but now we have a possible contender.

During a Reddit Q&A, MMA fighter and actress Ronda Rousey has stated she is interested in the role.

“Well… a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I’d like to vie for Miss Marvel,” Rousey responded when asked if she was cast in a super hero movie, which hero would she play.

Ronda Rousey is no stranger to big action sequences, so Carol Danvers (Marvel changed her name to Captain Marvel) would probably fit the MMA figher quite well. Rousey had a cool fight scene in Fast & Furious 7 with Michelle Rodriguez, was featured in The Expendables 3, Entourage and will be featured in the upcoming action flick Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg.

Ronda Rousey is currently undefeated and has been exchanging words back and forth with Floyd Mayweather. Rousey recently admitted she would probably lose to Mayweather in a boxing match, but stated in a no-rules fight, she could beat anyone.

“Floyd is one of the best boxers of all time,” Rousey said, reports ESPN. “He would definitely beat me in a boxing match. I unfortunately don’t get into ‘matches.’ I fight for a living. In a no-rules fight, I believe I can beat anyone on this planet. Boxing is a sweet science with strict rules that I respect very much and aspire every day to improve at. But you said ruleless fight, and that’s my honest answer.”

Bruce Boxleitner Done With Tron; Doesn’t Want Reboots

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21569:]]

The third Tron movie was all set to start production this Fall, but then Disney abruptly cancelled the movie.

It’s not exactly known why Disney chose to cancel Tron 3, but it’s been said Disney may have gotten cold feet because of the poor reception to Tomorrowland, and that Disney wants to concentrate on their animated movies and big tentpole films.

Now Bruce Boxleitner, who starred in the two Tron movies as well as voiced his character in the Tron: Uprising animated series and the Tron 2.0 video game, has stated he is done with the franchise.

SlashFilm caught up with the actor at the recent Television Critics Association press event and asked if Disney decided to greenlight a third Tron, would he be back.

“I don’t really care anymore,” Boxleitner replied. “I’m done with it. I’ve moved on. I hate to say that but it’s been too up and down for me. I would rather not just keep going.”

Likewise, Boxleitner continued with mentioned he doesn’t want to be involved in reboots.

“I don’t want to repeat my career anymore,” he said. “That’d be like, ‘Let’s reboot Scarecrow and Mrs. King.’ No, I’m not interested. Or Babylon 5.”

Boxleitner continues with mention he thinks Disney doesn’t want to do science-fiction and wants to focus on movies such as Star Wars and Marvel.

“Obviously there’s something politically within but I know that they were in preproduction heavily. I know that the options for Olivia [Wilde] and Garrett [Hedlund] were picked up. That was all public knowledge, [reported in] The Hollywood Reporter. I’ve got a feeling they’re going to play it safe with their old [formula]. I mean, Tim Burton’s doing Dumbo. They’re going to make live-action out of their old animated classics. Apparently, that was successful. They also have Star Wars. Let’s not neglect that, and Marvel. Maybe they just felt they had enough of that sci-fi. We were the only real science fiction. Star Wars is fantasy, sword and sorcery fantasy with a spaceship. Marvel is superhero comics. Star Wars, yes, is science fiction. There’s fantasy elements as well, but Marvel is not. It’s comic books. It’s really not sci-fi. It’s not thinking science fiction. Maybe they decided they don’t want to do science fiction.”

Dan Abnett Writing New Hercules Ongoing For Marvel

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21535:]]

Superstar Marvel Cosmic writer Dan Abnett is taking on the Prince Of Power as Marvel has announced a new ongoing Hercules series with art by Luke Ross, which launches in November.

Marvel’s CBR site features an interview with Abnett, who recently included Hercules in his Secret Wars: Korvac Saga series.

Highlights from the interview include:

•  The idea came to me because I was aware that I hadn’t ever given Marvel’s Hercules the sort of the consideration it deserved. I love the Marvel Universe and all the characters in it. I think Hercules is a fabulous addition to that and, as you said, there have been some great comics handling him over the years.

• Because of the nature of “Secret Wars,” I was restricted from using Thor. So I made damn sure that Hercules was part of [Korvac Saga”]. I wanted a big powerhouse demigod character.

• I want to keep the book very accessible and I want to make it very immediate. So the first few issues are going to appear to be done in one stories. He’ll deal with one or multiple problems in an issue and there’s a sense of closure, but there is the inevitable meta story. So his supporting cast’s story rolls through those and we gradually get the impression that these apparently disconnected elements are going to be more connected. They are not necessarily all part of the same thing, but they are symptoms of the same problem. And yes, at least some of his major opponents are going to be new characters that are almost filling the vacuum left by the diminishing mythological presence of the world. That’s going to be a fun thing to do.

• He’s been a hero for longer than most people and he’s coasted. He’s had a few weeks off. Except in his terms that’s probably the best part of a century. That’s perfectly normal, but he’s become aware of the fact that people don’t look at him with the same awe that they do Captain America, or Iron Man, or Thor. They go, “Oh Hercules! He’s the funny one!” In this Internet age, he’d be the one where you’d see the fail photographs of him at an event or doing something daft or whatever.

•  For instance Tony Stark might go, “Wow! Centaurs. I don’t know what to do about those?” Whereas Hercules would go, “I know all about those.” So he has an area of expertise that fills a really interesting niche in the same way that if it was magic you would go to Doctor Strange or if it’s technology Tony Stark is your man. So it’s almost like an area of expertise that Hercules has decided to remind the world he know all about.

• This is not a grim and gritty take on Hercules. It’s going to be triumphantly celebratory of everything that Hercules has ever been, but it is him cutting back to basics and going, “Right, I need to get my act together again and prove that I’m a serious warrior and hero.”

Marvel Replaces Another White Character – Giant-Man

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21401:]]

Now before anyone tweets out or leaves a comment accusing me of racism or whatever, do me a favor, when Marvel replaces a minority character with a white male character, then call me out.

Yeah, I’m waiting for a white Black Panther or Luke Cage (not really).

The PC police at Disney are once again in full force (as they were last night during the ESPYs) as Marvel Comics has now replaced Scott Lang’s Ant-Man.

The new Ant-Man is Raz Malhotra who is gay and looks to be from Indian/Pakistani/Asian descent.

This week’s Ant-Man annual saw Scott Lang give Raz the Giant-Man costume noting, “You can’t do worse than I did!”

Raz was kidnapped by Egghead but saved by Ant-man and Hank Pym and received the Giant-Man costume.

Giant-Man is the latest white character at Marvel to be replaced, which includes Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Richard Rider Nova. And other characters have simply been copied with more PC-friendly characters including: a female Star-Lord, Miles Morales Spider-Man and female Blade (am I forgetting anyone? update: Wolverine, Ghost Rider).

Again my arguement isn’t against introducing diversity, but it’s against replacing characters just for the sake of it.

I agree with Stan Lee and Michelle Rodriguez: Just create new characters. What happened to the House of Ideas?

Watch: Joe Quesada Says The Spider-Man Costume Is Awesome

Check out video above of Marvel chief creative officer Joe Quesada talking about his job at Marvel as well as Spider-Man.

Quesada says he has seen the new Spider-Man costume, which will be worn by Tom Holland.

“It’s awesome,” Quesada said. “It looks awesome.

“I’ve seen a lot of design work that’s been done on the costume. I think there are elements of it that are really going to blow people away where they are going to go ‘that’s Marvel doing Spider-Man,” Quesada said.

Quesada wouldn’t confirm if the costume is a new or traditional approach to the Spider-Man look or if Holland will use web-shooters.

“You’re trying to trick me. It’s not going to work. I’ve played this game before,” Quesada laughed. “Things will be revealed as they are meant to be revealed.”

Joe Quesada continued with mention of how exciting it is to have Spider-Man back in the MCU.

“It’s Spider-Man. What’s not exciting about that? I can’t imagine there’s a person on the planet Earth that can’t relate to some aspect of Spider-Man or Peter Parker, and he is for all intents and purposes, he is Marvel’s Mickey Mouse. He is the icon of so much of what we have was built upon, so to create that movie along with our Sony partners it’s phenomenally exciting. I know Kevin Feige and his team have some great ideas. Some wonderful theories that we’ve all chimed in on.”

The new Spider-Man movie has a July 28, 2017 release and is expected to first appear in “Captain America: Civil War” next May.

Watch: Nicole Perlman Talks Guardians of the Galaxy & Captain Marvel

Check out video above of Nicole Perlman talking Captain Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Perlman is on board writing the Captain Marvel movie in which she says it’s currently in the brainstorming stage.

Regarding Guardians of the Galaxy, Perlman recounts how she got involved with writing the first version of the script. Perlman was a part of a Marvel writing program back in 2009 in which Marvel told the writers to develop lesser known properties.

A new Gamora comic book series is also in the works from Perlman which is set prior to Gamora joining the Guardians of the Galaxy team.

Here are some highlights:

They gave us a list of lesser known properties and said ‘choose one of these and you will be developing it for a couple of years by yourself.’ So we said ‘okay’ and everybody chose one. The one I chose was Guardians, which I got a lot of funny looks about because it was the least well known property on the list.

I was originally drawn to the first group of Guardians. I thought there’s something really cool about Vance Astro and the whole idea about being temporally dislocated, but I loved the 2008 Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning reboot of the series. It just had so much color and sarcasm, and that was something that the producers were excited about as well.

I tried a lot of different versions of which Guardians to include in the story, but the ones that ended up in the movie are the ones that we decided fulfilled all the best parts of that team. We’re encapsulated by those guys.

Rocket Raccoon was a late addition. I’m really glad we put him in. He was very much on the fence for a while. I loved him, and Kevin loved him. There was some back and forth, and he made it in. Thank goodness.

With Quill we changed his backstory fairly significantly because we didn’t want him to start out too noble at the beginning and be doing this for noble reasons. We wanted him to be a bit of a scoundrel.

Iger continued with mention that he’s confidet in Ant-Man and Doctor Strange because of Marvel as well.

“We’re going to increase the presence of Star Wars in our parks,” Iger said.

The first promo is in regards to the Ant-Man movie, with a second tweet in regards to a 4th of July fireworks celebration at Avengers Tower.

In the Marvel comics, Christine Everhart was actually a reporter for the Daily Bugle, while in the Iron Man movies Everhart worked for Vanity Fair (played by Leslie Bibbs).

It’s possible the WHIH promotion could stick around and be used to connect various Marvel movie and TV events.

“Ant-Man” hits July 17th.

Avengers X-Men Movie Rumored For 2020 From Marvel & Fox

(fan art)

We’re not sure how legit this rumor is, but it’s being said Marvel and Fox Studios are mending their relationship and are planning an Avengers / X-Men movie for 2020.

The rumor comes from the Pete’s Basement Facebook page via Mikey Sutton on FB.

“Marvel and Fox are in the process of making up!!!” the post reads. “They are currently bringing a movie to us by 2020. The movie would feature the Avengers and X-Men.”

In the comments following the post, fans questioned the legitamacy of the information, with Pete’s Basement offering up that Mikey Sutton, owner of Paper Cuts in Seattle Washington, is their source.

Sutton followed up by posting he thinks the big announcement will be made at next year’s Comic-Con as the deal is still going through.

“Won’t be public until the deal is done,” Sutton offered. “Have a feeling they’ll drop it in San Diego next year.”

Marvel and Fox have been reportedly at odds over the film rights to the Fox-owned Marvel characters (Wolverine, X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four), with Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter even going so far as to order the cancellation of the Marvel comics containing the characters as well as not having Disney produce Fox character merchandise.

Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige stated about a year and a half ago that anything’s possible when questioned about an Avengers /  X-Men movie.

“So I would say not anytime soon… Would we be in a position to team up with other studios that have a few of our characters, because we have so many characters ourselves?  But I would never say never,” Feige said.

Likewise, at one point, X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner stated she would be up for a crossover between the two franchises as well.

“I would love it. I would love it,” Donner said. “I personally have close ties to Marvel because of Kevin Feige, because Kevin worked for me. But to take our characters and mingle them in the way that they were written, yeah, absolutely.”

Marvel did recently come to a deal with Sony to have Spider-Man featured in their movies, so as Feige stated above, a potential Marvel/Fox relationship can’t be totally ruled out.

The Marvel Experience Is Cancelled & Closing

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21220:]]

And that’s all she wrote for The Marvel Experience.

It’s announced Disney’s travelling theme park, The Marvel Experience, has closed following its Philadelphia run.

Planned stops for Chicago, NYC and St. Louis have been cancelled and refunds will be given.

No specific reasons were given as to why The Marvel Experience was cancelled, but it’s thought in part due to high costs.

Another issue seemed to be the lackluster exhibits/events The Marvel Experience offered as many reviews can be found online that stated how much fans disliked it such as on Reddit and other sites.

About:

The Marvel Experience is a “first-person” Super Hero adventure in which audiences step into the Marvel Universe to become a part of the story and the action. Innovative tour elements include a one-of-a-kind, traveling dome complex the size of two football fields developed exclusively by Hero Ventures. In addition to the 4D motion ride and 3D animated features, other components will include digitally projected animation, motion-comic origin stories, virtual reality and holographic simulations, original merchandise and integrated social media touch points all carefully woven into the rich narrative story line.

Ava DuVernay Not Directing Black Panther Movie

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21208:]]

Ava DuVernay will not be directing the Black Panther movie for Marvel Studios.

Following confirmation that the DuVernay was in talks with Marvel, the Selma director has now come out and stated it isn’t happening because they couldn’t come to an agreement.

“I’m not signing on to direct Black Panther. I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be,” DuVernay told Essence. “Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.”

The Black Panther movie is due out July 6, 2018 starring Chadwick Bosemann who will first appear in Captain America: Civil War next May,

“I loved meeting Chadwick and writers and all the Marvel execs,” said DuVernay. “In the end, it comes down to story and perspective. And we just didn’t see eye to eye. Better for me to realize that now than cite creative differences later… I love the character of Black Panther, the nation of Wakanda and all that that could be visually. I wish them well and will be first in line to see it.”

Ava DuVernay isn’t the first director to mention creative differences with Marvel as Alan Taylor also recently stated working with Marvel was “wrenching,” and of course, Edgar Wright departing Ant-Man is well known example in addition to Patty Jenkins not directing Thor 2

Evangeline Lilly Calls Kirkman’s Ant-Man “Total Crap”

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21159:]]

Evangeline Lilly is playing Hope Van Dyne, daughter to Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, in the Ant-Man movie.

Lilly recently spoke with Collider where she admitted she wasn’t too familiar with the Marvel universe other than having watched Iron Man.

Evangeline Lilly says in her attempt to learn more about Ant-Man, someone gave her a batch of Ant-Man comics, which she says were “total crap.”

No, it wasn’t. I am still trying to figure out how to get my hands on original ‘Ant-Man’ comics, where you get them. I’ve been given a couple recent ‘Ant-Man’ comics. No offense Marvel, but they are total crap. I really want to read the original ones, because I got through two and I was like, dude, you can’t force-feed me another one of these magazines. It was terrible. But Janet’s not in them, and neither is Hank and neither is Scott. It’s just a completely different fabrication. So if anybody has any old ‘Ant-Man’ comics they want to lend me…

Based on Lilly’s description of the Ant-Man comics, we can speculate she is talking about The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s run on Irreedeemable Ant-Man as Kirkman’s comic featured Eric O’Grady (the most recent Nick Spencer Ant-Man comic features Scott Lang).

A quick check of the Marvel Digital Comics store reveals Ant-Man and Tales To Astonish issues are in stock. Can somebody get Evangeline Lilly a digital subscription?

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:21160:]]

Ant-Man” has a July 17, 2015 release directed by Peyton Reed starring Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne and Corey Stoll as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket.

Synopsis:

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
