Major bomb
The flick recently finished its box office on April 18 with $100 million after being open for 65 days, and that’s the worldwide gross. Madame Web brought in $43.8 million in the U.S. and $56.4 million from foreign grosses.
The Rotten Tomatoes Score is at 12%, with the Audience Score at 57%.
In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines. The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who develops the power to see the future… and realizes she can use that insight to change it. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women bound for powerful destinies…if they can all survive a deadly present.
Also starring includes Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O’Connor.
Both Johnson and Sweeney recently distanced themselves from the movie following the poor box office performance and fan reception.
Following comments, it’s claimed Sony producers are mad at Dakota Johnson for throwing them under the bus, and Sydney Sweeney roasted the movie on SNL.
