Loki Season 2 Scores Record Audience For Disney+

The premiere of Loki Season 2 has scored a record audience for the Disney+ streaming service, which follows Season 1 as the most-watched Marvel show.

It’s reported that the first episode, which debuted last Thursday, brought in 10.9 million global views in its first three days on Disney+.

The number gives the god of mischief the second-most watched premiere this year, only trailing The Mandalorian Season 3 from back in March.

Disney did release numbers for Ahsoka, which saw 14 million views, but that was for the first two episodes and over a span of five days.

Tom Hiddleston is one of the most popular MCU actors

Loki Season 2 features the return of Tom Hiddleston, who is one of the most popular actors in the MCU.

Hiddleston has been with the MCU since the start, debuting in Thor in 2011 and he went on to be the villain of The Avengers in 2012. The British actor quickly became a favorite amongst fans, with “Hiddleston’s Army” becoming a rabid part of the fanbase.

The second season also features the return of fan-favorite Owen Wilson as Mobius, Loki’s best buddy in the TVA. The end of the first season seemingly saw Mobius forget who Loki is; however, the first episode of Season 2 explains why Mobius didn’t know Loki.

Spoilers for Loki Season 2 follow

Regarding Loki Season 2, the first episode revealed that Loki can time-slip, as that explained the end of Season 1.

Loki didn’t end up in a new version, universe, or timeline of the TVA, but Loki actually time-slipped back in time, which explains why Mobius didn’t know him — because they hadn’t met, yet.

The episode left a lot of questions with fans, as Loki never time-slipped before, and Avengers: Endgame clearly set up rules for time travel in the MCU and made a point of explaining the “Back to the Future” rules were wrong. However, maybe those rules don’t apply to the TVA?

The episode also ended with Sylvie going back in time to 1982 in a branched different Earth universe.

Loki airs Thursdays at 9pm EST on Disney+.
