Disney Fires Back Against Ahsoka Bombing On Disney+

The spin is in as Disney, Lucasfilm, and Kathleen Kennedy fire back against it learned that Ahsoka has bombed on Disney+.

Following Samba TV revealing Ahsoka was watched by as many households in the U.S. as Andor, which means both shows are the least-watched Star Wars series on the Disney+ streaming service – get this – Disney actually revealed streaming numbers for Ahsoka.

Disney announced Ahsoka clocked in 14M views, making the series No. 1 worldwide on the streaming platform — but the kicker? It’s the most-watched title on Disney+ this past week.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy released the following statement (via Deadline).

Ahsoka has become a fan favorite with people of all ages and it’s wonderful to see her continue to resonate with viewers in her very own headlining series,” said Kennedy. “I want to recognize the fantastic work done by our creative team, led by Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, the incredible cast led by Rosario Dawson, and our talented crew — and on behalf of the team and all of Lucasfilm, we give our thanks to all the fans who have been with Ahsoka on every step of her journey and to all those who are just learning about her now in Ahsoka on Disney+.”

Regarding Samba TV, Samba TV reported that viewership for the first episode of Ahsoka drew 1.2M households but that the second episode lost nearly 300k viewers with 956k U.S. households tuning in for the second episode.

Ahsoka is also watched by a lot less than The MandalorianThe Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Ratings are down 50% compared to Obi-Wan Kenobi, which had 2.4M households in six days; down 30% from The Mandalorian Season 3 premiere which had 1.7M U.S. households, and down from Boba Fett‘s 1.5 million in four days.

Per Deadline:

Samba TV’s research panel includes 3 million smart TVs, balanced and weighted to the U.S. Census across age, gender, ethnicity and household income. Its panel is nearly 100 times larger than Nielsen’s household footprint of 45K homes.
