Daredevil: Born Again Viewership Worse Than Thought: Below Echo

Daredevil: Born Again Viewership Worse Than Thought: Below Echo

It’s learned the viewership for Daredevil: Born Again is even worse than thought as the ratings are actually worse than Echo, the least-watched MCU show on Disney+.

Disney+ numbers

Disney has already confirmed Daredevil: Born Again only had 7.5 million views in its first five days. That number is right around what Agatha got, with 9.3 million views in its first seven days. It’s unknown if Daredevil actually pulled ahead in its first full week, but if you take the daily average, Daredevil at least comes out on top. There’s some doubt it was able to catch up to Agatha in those extra two days, but we can only go by the numbers that have been released. Either way, those viewership numbers for Daredevil: Born Again are really bad.

Luminate numbers

Now we’re getting more data from Luminate, which is owned by Penske Media—the same company that has a monopoly on all the shill sites like Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, and so on.

Before we dive in, Luminate’s data claims Loki Season 2 is at the bottom of the list, which is hard to believe and contrasts with Disney’s official numbers of Loki Season 2’s 10.9 million views in its first three days. So Luminate’s data – and wherever they get it from – should be questioned.

Below Echo, Secret Invasion, Loki S2

That said, Luminate’s chart shows that Daredevil: Born Again’s first-week viewership came in lower than both Echo and Secret Invasion. It’s worth noting that Marvel dropped all the episodes of Echo at once, which explains its big initial bump followed by falling off a cliff. However, Secret Invasion only launched with one episode, while Daredevil: Born Again had two.

Luminate also reveals that as of the second week, Daredevil: Born Again is trailing Agatha, Loki Season 2, and Secret Invasion. By Day 10, it’s also behind Echo. By that time, Daredevil: Born Again had released three episodes. Not a good sign.

Variety tries to spin things

Oddly, the Variety article tries to spin the numbers as a win for Daredevil: Born Again—despite Disney’s own data showing how low the viewership actually is.

Variety laughably (are people really that gullible?) claims Daredevil: Born Again “beats the odds so far” and calls it “one of the stronger debuts of the current phase of MCU shows.”

Yeah… but viewership for this “current phase” of MCU shows has been in the gutter. That includes Agatha, Secret Invasion, and Echo. Even Loki Season 2 saw a significant drop from Season 1. That’s supposed to be a win? It’s not.

Daredevil: Born Again: First Reactions Are In

Why aren’t Marvel fans watching Daredevil: Born Again?

70% or more of MCU fans aren’t tuning in

The fact is, Marvel fans aren’t watching Daredevil: Born Again. To put things in perspective, it’s likely that 70-90% of Marvel fans aren’t watching. For proof, we can simply compare the box office grosses of Deadpool & Wolverine to those of the recent Captain America: Brave New World, which is a whopping 70% difference in favor of the Merc With A Mouth. That’s a huge chunk of fans not showing up to see Anthony Mackie as Captain America. So, it’s not a stretch to think even fewer Marvel fans are bothering with Disney+.

Kevin Feige has failed MCU fans

If I had to guess, I’d say all the garbage Kevin Feige dumped on Disney+ has turned fans off, and they’ve stopped subscribing and watching, much like what Kathleen Kennedy has done with Star Wars on Disney+. Hawkeye certainly didn’t help the case for Vincent D’Onofrio’s return as Kingpin. Ditto with Daredevil’s return in She-Hulk. Now Daredevil: Born Again is making things worse, with the reveal that Kingpin’s wife is somehow better than him—and basically becomes the new Kingpin. Daredevil? We’ve seen him once in costume in a low-budget scene reshot for the “retooling” of the show.

Feige and his crew of bozos at Marvel also thought it was a good idea to kill off Foggy and write out Karen, replacing them with DEI characters. Well, just like Captain America: Brave New World, The Marvels, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, and the rest—how’s that working out?

Will the ratings go up?

We’ll have a better idea once the Nielsen ratings come out—Disney+ automatically tracks that data through your account—but those numbers are still weeks away. Maybe, similar to WandaVision, the viewership will increase with subsequent episodes. It will be a disaster if the viewership decreases. A new episode of Daredevil: Born Again drops tonight.

Meanwhile, Samba TV continues to withhold viewership data for the Marvel shows, which only adds more fuel to the fire that Daredevil: Born Again is bombing along with the rest of the MCU on Disney+.
