Yesterday saw iTunes and Amazon state the digital release date for the Justice League movie, and now a Walmart listing offers further details.
According to the box art featured at Walmart, Justice League will have a “bonus scene not seen in theaters.” We also see the box art features Henry Cavill’s Superman who was absent from the theatrical release of Justice League.
It’s presently unknown what the scene is or even how long the extra footage may be, but a Justice League listing at Amazon’s German site did at first list it as having 15 minutes of additional footage.
Let’s hope the Justice League bonus scene is actually meaningful and not simply 30 seconds of nothing.
By all accounts, a lot of footage was cut from the Justice League movie–especially considering that WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara mandated Justice League come in under 2 hours. It’s guessed not only was a some of Joss Whedon’s footage cut, but Zack Snyder’s as well. According to various reports and rumors, Zack Snyder had an epic 3-hour cut of Justice League, which was unfinished at the time of his departure.
Known Zack Snyder scenes to have been cut from Justice League include: A Henry Cavill Clark Kent scene in Smallville when Ma Kent pulls up in the truck; Clark is shown smiling; A Parademon scene; The Iris West deleted scene with Ezra Miller and Kiersey Clemons; Ray Fisher Cyborg scene; Another Ray Fisher scene as Victor Stone; Cyborg flying scene; A Cyborg computational scene of some sort; Justice League Mother box scene.
It’s also known that the Superman vs Justice League scene was either cut down or totally reshot as there is footage in the trailers not shown in the theatrical release of the film. It’s also been said scenes were filmed with Henry Cavill in the black Superman costume, which would be a pretty awesome addition to the Justice League Blu-Ray.
Further possibilities about the added scene could have to do with Steppenwolf, as reportedly, a lot of the character was cut as Ciaran Hinds has stated he wasn’t too thrilled by the finished version of Justice League.
The Justice League digital release looks to go on sale at the end of next month, with the Justice League Blu-Ray likely to be released in March.
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
