The official Justice League web site has also been updated with a high-res and textless version of Henry Cavill as Superman along with the Justice League team.
Warner Bros. made an interesting decision in keeping Henry Cavill and Superman from Justice League promotion. Fans already knew that Superman was in the movie, so not having the Man of Steel promoted along side Justice League may actually have been detrimental to the film’s success. That said, it’s also possible having Superman not a part of the movie’s promotion may not have negatively impacted Justice League as it more or less seems like just the fanboys came out to watch it in as Justice League only grossed $654 million.
It’s unknown where Henry Cavill’s Superman will appear next in the DCEU as he only has one more movie in his contract.
Aquaman is next by James Wan starring Jason Momoa, but it seems doubtful it will feature Superman.
David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! movie could be a possibility, and Zachary Levi did describe the film as Superman meets Big, so who knows?
Following Shazam!, Wonder Woman 2 will be released, but it looks to be another period piece, so don’t look for Superman there.
It has recently been made known that the Flashpoint movie is moving forward, which could feature Superman, as Superman was a part of the comic book storyline.
While there has been talk of a Man of Steel 2, it seems to be more or less just that, as nothing official has been mentioned. Producer Charles Roven did hint that Man of Steel is 2 a ways off. Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill also teased Black Adam vs Superman on social media a while back, but it has since died down.
Hope for a possible Superman Man of Steel 2 seems to be with Matthew Vaughn who has said he spoke with Warner Bros about doing DC movies.
Here is the Henry Cavill Superman poster:
Justice League is directed by Zack Snyder, with the story by Chris Terrio and Zack Snyder, the screenplay by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon, and stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe an Atlantean, Nuidis Vulko.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
